Worst Experience. My bf and I decided to try it for lunch while in town. Looked cute from the outside and was busy inside. When we started to order we were informed that they had just run out of turkey for the club sandwich. So I asked for it with only ham. My bf ordered an omlette. And we were informed that they no longer make the sweet potato chips. We also asked for lemon for our tea and were served lemon peels. Waiter was trying he finally brought us some limes. Lunch came and my club sandwich had about a 1/2 tea of mayo on one slice of bread, a corner of cheese, very small half slice of tomato but plenty of ham. My bf's omlette had 2 slivers of avocado and no cheese. Terrible food experience. We will not be going back.
Great breakfast/brunch. this is one of those places that is a "must try". the food is very unique with a great vibe in the restaurant. the owners greet you personally and the french toast is off the chain. highly recommend this gem!
Not exactly The Flying Biscuit. My wife ordered the Tuna Melt which was dry as a bone and tasted terrible. She took just three small bites. Waitress never remarked when she removed my wife's plate which was 3/4 full. I had the Club which was tasteless, very dry and the bread fell apart. We both ordered sweet potato fries. It was only noon time and they were out of sweet potato fries. I guess we will continue going the extra miles to the "Biscuit.'
"regular" already. We saw the sign for breakfast and we thought we would give it a try. We have been in 2 time/wk since! Everything has been consistently good. Service great. This privately-owned establishment is just what Alpharetta needed although I'm not sure if I want the word out! Can be cramped at times but it looks like they will have outside seating when the weather starts to get nice.
Yumme To My Tumme.
I fell in love with the "Hen" as soon as I stepped through the front door. The atmosphere was so warm and cozy. I loved the decor, not overdone in the chicken department! The staff were very friendly and accomodating seating us right away and attentive but NOT in an annoying kind of way.
I ususally don't eat breakfast, just coffee, but I had a hard time choosing what to order. The oatmeal brulee is fantastic, with a hint of apple and the crispy sugary top, it is to dye for. I have also had the egg sanwiches...yummeeeee! Just like the ones in NYC on the kaiser roll. It melts in your mouth.
Since breakfast was so good, I met a couple of girlfriends there for lunch. OMG, the turkey burger was the best I have ever had! The flavors of the mushrooms and cheese were fantastic. Not to mention the awsome sweet potato chips! I loved it.
You have to give it a try, your tumme will be glad you did! It is my new Go-To spot!!!
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing.
Amazing Atmosphere, Amazing Customer Service and Amazing Food! We have been waiting for a place like this to come to Alpharetta. We have currently been driving over an hour to have Sunday brunch in Athens at the infamous Farm 255 all the while hoping that something other than J. Christopher's, I-Hop, Craker Barrel or Waffle House would soon be in our area! The Red Hen is our answer!
Our visit was on Sunday, Jan. 18th around 1:30pm. We were sat promptly by a pleasent host and quickly greated by a wonderful waitress who gave great menu details and recommendations as this was our very first visit. We had a wonderful cup of high quality coffee while waiting on our order of Eggs Josephine and Crustless Spinach and Cheddar Quiche with cream cheese grits! The flavor of the food was distinct and robust - you could tast that only the freshest ingredients had been used. We would gladly wait 45 minutes to an hour to eat hear for brunch! (I mean if people can wait that long for food from Cracker Barrel than it is more than worth twice the wait to eat here). This has become our official restaurant for Sunday Brunch! We feel the food here is just as delicious as that which we order at The Farm 255 without the drive!
A different experience.... I, too, came on a Sunday and it appears (according to the previous review) that the folks at The Red Hen either had a bad day the earlier reviewer came OR they learned from their mistakes and improved immensely. We came around brunch time (with three others) and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. However, we were comfortably sat the waiting area and offered complimentary coffee while we waited. When we sat, our waitress, who was very personable and seemed to be enjoying the busy-ness of the day, took our orders and not soon after that, returned with our meals. The food is incredible and we cannot wait to come and try other things on the menu. They were featuring a few specials that day and if you can't find something on that menu to enjoy, then you are definitely a picky eater. So, I must respectfully disagree with the previous reviewer and my party and I agreed that we would have waited much longer for the experience we had. Especially with a good cup of coffee.
Nice change from the usual. Some friends told my husband and me about this place and said we had to go. We went on sunday and had to wait about 10 minutes. They had a small but nice waiting area by the fish tank which was great for my daughter! They also provided complimentary coffee while we waited. We were seated and greeted promptly by our server. My husband ordered the Biscuits and Gravy which honestly was the best I have ever tasted. I had an omelet which was great as well. I had the hashbrowns which were a tad under done. I mentioned it to my server and I was told that they were switching to red potatoes. She brought me grits instead which were very yummy. Not only was the food great but the atmosphere is very cozy and inviting. I have been in the restaurant business for several years so needless to say I am very picky when it comes to service, etc.. The manager took the time to come to our table and chat which was nice. Overall it was a good experience and a nice change from the typical breakfast places around
Diaappointing....... Heard from a friend that food was good. Went after church and waited about 15-20 minutes for a table. While waiting, a few waiting couples left. Was seated and order taken promptly. Alittle tight between the tables. After about 35 minutes, waitress informs us she did not place our order. We left and the manager did offer us a free meal to come back.
New and great breakfast place. found this on citysearch while looking for somewhere other than the usual suspects for breakfast. privately owned and operated and smells like your mom's kitchen when she's frying up bacon and eggs. heavenly! very comfortable and very nice menu. sweet potato waffles are amazing and biscuits and gravy was different but very tasty. much better than your typical white sausage gravy. this had spice and was presented very well. we are making this our sunday brunch spot on a regular basis. highly recommended by m y whole family!
