“The portions of each course were perfect and like I said above, each wine was perfect for each course.”
Worst service I've ever had!. I have been to McCrays many times now since they opened up about 1 & 1/2 yrs ago. The service was never that great but but we just dismissed it b/c we liked the food. But in the past 6 months the there service is unaccepatable. I went their yesterday and sat at a table for 15 minutes before a server came up to me and asked me if I had been helped. When I responded no I was definately frustrated. So she gave me attitude and asked me what I wanted to drink. Her attitude was my breaking point and I got up and was going to leave. Then I decided to try and talk to a manger about this. Well the manager came over to me and she was this older woman who looked frightened of me. I was telling her my complaint and the whole time she just keep looking around like she didn't even know where she was. This place is ridiculous to me now. I will never go back! In today's economy when I go out to spend money I expect to be treated promptly and nicely. I've gotten better service at Waffle House.
Great food and service!. I was already a fan of McCrays for their friendly service, comfy atmosphere, and of course, great food, so it's no surprise that I had a great experience at their Five Course Wine & Seafood Pairing evening with several friends. Each course, starting with a delicious Ahi Tuna appetizer, had a different bottle of wine that complimented the flavors of both the food and the wine. The portions were perfectly sized; not too big to overwhelm, but enough to satisfy. We loved the luscious Banana Split Cheesecake paired with a sparkling red for desert. It was a fun night that I can't wait to repeat. When is the next one???
Excellent Dining in Lawrenceville, GA.
A group of us (4 women) went to a recent wine and dinner pairing night at McCrays on the square in Lawrenceville. The menu was mostly fish for this pairing. Although I'm usually not a fan of fish, I really enjoyed this menu and the paired wines. Three of the wines were from the same winery in Australia and were incredible. Each wine was perfect for each dish. The service was also incredible. After the meal, we got to meet the head chef. He was a really nice guy and gave us a lot of background information on why he chose each wine for the given course.
First course was ahi tuna, followed by a very tasty seafood bisque. They then brought out a very fresh Caesar salad and the main course was Grouper Picatta with potatoes.
The dessert was a banana split cheesecake that should probably be illegal, it was so good. This was paired with a Rosa Regale sparkling red wine from an Italian vineyard named Banfi.
The portions of each course were perfect and like I said above, each wine was perfect for each course. I really appreciated the fact that 3 of the 4 wines were from the same vineyard. I have never heard of Gruner Veltliner before but I plan to look for more of their wines, especially the whites we tasted.
Our group is already looking forward to the next wine pairing at McCrays. At $35, all from our group felt it was an incredible value. I had been to McCrays numerous times before but this dining experience was very different. I hope it continues to grow and is successful. With this quality, along with what the folks are doing at Lil River Grill, the Lawrenceville Square may become a fine dining destination.
Can't wait until the next event.
