Creative burgers and shakes from Top Chef Richard Blaise; I love the burnt marshmallow and nutella shake!!! The tuna tartare burger is also pretty solid
Culinary Designer, star of Bravo’s Top Chef, Richard Blais has done it again! This place is a meat lover’s paradise, I counted at least 15 types of burgers! (veal, shrimp, chorizo, salmon, mushroom, beef, steak tartare, lobster, to name a few) Trendy yet hip, there’s always a waiting list. I wouldn’t recommend it for a date, it’s noisy and fast paced, however, you can still hold a decent conversation.
I feasted on the lamburger, topped with a green olive relish, cucumber yogurt, raisin ketchup, mint, we all enjoyed our meal and found it to be creatively tasty and flavor- filled. (oh..how can I forget the smoked caesear salad topped with threads of chili pepper, excellent flavor)
Be warned! Most items are fried! Of course, all items are freshly prepared, homemade, even the condiments. The burgers…small to medium size.

The décor is simple but modern, there’s communal sitting, but also private tables. There’s parking next door, outdoor sitting, items are reasonably priced, other items on the menu, wine by the glass, beer by the bottle(beer draft, soda draft), soda by the bottle, drinks specialities. If you want great, imaginative food in a cool atmosphere, with stellar service, than Flip Burger Boutique is the place to be.
Great lil burger place. Lots of things to choose from, very clean white and red interior, service was fast. I had the bacon and cheese burger which was great, hubby had the yellowfin tuna which he liked and then we shared the choriso burger which is nice and spicy. The sw potato tater tots are not tater tots though- more like cut and battered sw potato pieces but they were good as were the onion rings. Will definately go back to try other burgers I could not try this time.
Great Food...but arrive early!.
First and foremost YES this place is popular and therefore you may want to arrive early or prepare to wait. There is not an incredible amount of parking to fit the demand of people that is running to check this place out but they apparently worked something out with the auto ship across the street where you can park there after-hours as well. I arrived right after about 30 minutes after they opened so I had no problem parking and was seated immediately. But when I left there was a huge line.
This place attracts a such an array of people....young, old, families, couples, friends of every nationality. Made for an enjoyable atmosphere. I was impressed with the sleek white and red design including beautiful wall mural. I liked that you could sit near where the burgers are made even though I did not choose to.
And now the food...The waitress was very attentive and helpful when ordering and thereafter... My friend and I wanted to sample everything! burgers, drinks, sides and milkshakes, and they allowed us to share a milkshake (yummy nutella and burnt marshmallow!) in two flute-like glasses. The pistachio milkshake is also extremely delish! Did I mention they frozen with liquid nitrogen??? The burgers are so flavorful and interesting. A little something for everyone...pulled brisket, veal, beef, veggie. no matter what you chose you would not be disappointed. I enjoyed the Butcher Cut burger made topped with caramelized onions, blue cheese and red wine jam and a side of vodka battered onion rings. Even the fries are are an experience. Apparently they are cooked 24 hours in advance and then flashed fried duck fat (may sound gross but interesting flavor) just before serving (something like that). They have this wonderful smoked mayo that you can put on your burger or even dip your fries in...definitely a fan of the smoked mayo!

What an exhausting and disappointing experience. When we arrived we expected there would a wait for a table they told us about 30 minutes, but after an hour we started to become a little put out. We had a party of 5 and they do not seem to have the correct set up if you have more than 2 people in your party. We were finally seated at out table, at this point we had been waiting well over an hour and 20 minutes, while smaller groups we being seated. We placed our orders and then waited another hour for our food. While waiting for the food, no one refilled our beverages and by this time the customers were starting to thin out. The food was good but not worth the hassle. The restaurant was cold and the parking is horrendous.
Mmm!. I can't wait to go back to Flip and try some more burgers. We tried 3 during our visit- the Southern burger with pimento cheese, one with carmelized onions and blue cheese, and the RBQ which was our favorite with brisket and slaw. I also REALLY enjoyed the Nutella milkshake. I loved how you smell the toasted marshmallows while you're drinking the delicious chocolate shake. The decor is really pretty, very white and clean. I also loved the music (great playlist!) and service was great. Next time I want to try some of the other beef free sandwiches as I've heard they are great as well.
Very Unique Burger!.
I dined at Flip Burger Boutique on a Friday evening with some friends and it was a wonderful time! First off, we waited an hour and 15 minutes before we were seated. I expected that from previous reviews so it wasn't a shock and it was warm enough to hang out on the patio area and we got some drinks from the bar quickly and the hour and 15 minutes flies by with friends.
We were seated at one of the high tables in long rows, 2 on each side. My husband got 2 burgers (the southern and the corned beef burger) and the pistachio and truffle milkshake, I got the southern burger with sweetpotato tots and a nutella and burnt marshmellow milkshake. The recommendation to get 2 burgers because they are small was wrong in my opinion. 1 burger and a side was plenty for me and my husband who eats a lot couldn't finish his two burgers and neither could the other guy in our party. The burgers are small in diameter but they are THICK! The Southern burger was awesome! I loved it! The greentomato ketchup and the pimento cheese were out of this world! The sweetpotato tots were good, but little fried tots of HOT. I had to let them cool for a while before I could eat them without burnign my tongue. I tried my friends fries and they were good too. I heard the earth and turf was really good too.
As good as my burger was, the highlight of the meal was my nutella and burnt marshmellow milkshake! SO GOOD! I got to try the Krispy Kreme milkshake (Really good, you can taste the little bits of doughnut in it) and my husbands Pisachio which was really good ( and I don't typically like pistachio).
We DEFINITELY plan to return to try the other burners and sides. The atmosphere was fun, the food was wonderful, the service was very fast once we were seated! I honestly don't understand the negative reviews, esp. the ones saying they prefered 5 Guys Burger and Fries. SERIOUSLY? Thats like saying you prefer McDonalds to the Vortex? It's a whole different league!
Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I have Flip Burger in my Tummy!. Yummy, yummy, yummy, I have Flip burger in my tummy. I love this place. My co-worker and went here for dinner last night. I pulled into the parking lot just in time to get a prime parking spot and went in time. The hostess asked how many were in my party and I stated they have arrived yet. She said not to worry and to let her know when the rest of my party arrived. When my party showed up we were promptly seated at the chef?s bar. I started out with the Georgia peach tea and a warning. This is a drink for adults. The drink was a nice start. For our main order my co-worker and I had the Po-Boy Burger , Sweet Potato Tots , Roasted Mushroom, Smoked Caesar Salad and a Krispy Kreme milk shake. All we can say was wow! The burgers were cooked just right, the roasted mushrooms were great and Salad was good! Tots were good and the milk shake was the bomb! We will be back. If you expecting a cheap greasy burger joint this aren?t it! Get place for family, a first date or before a casual night on the town.
OK. First of all, Flip is not the place to go if you're in a hurry. It is an experience. So I suggest that you make it the highlight of your evening. Stop whining and enjoy the ambience,great food and superb service.
That said, here's my review.
Upon entering the restaurant on a busy Monday lunch we were met with a line of about ten people waiting ahead of us. The lovely Hostess informed me that there was seating at the bar. We grabbed the first two stools by the door and were greeted warmly by our Bartender, Nick. We found him to be very informative and friendly, but not overly so. What a plus!
My party ordered a Bacon and Cheese Burger and a Southern Burger. Both were fantastic but I prefer the Southern the most. The burgers were cooked perfectly and served on a delicious brioche bun topped with very tasty bread and butter pickles. The pimento cheese on the Southern Burger was some of the best I have ever tasted!
Our side of onion rings were light and crispy and piping hot with very little grease. The smoked smoked caesar salad was my least favorite (but still tasty).
You must save room for the Nutella Shake with Burnt Marshmallow! OH MY GOD!!!!!
I loved Flip and I will continue to dine there on a regular basis. I also will recommend this restaurant to everyone.
As far as the cost...two burgers, two sides, two cokes and a shake were only $37.00. Big deal. Hey, stop blaming the recession. Keep your cheap butt at home and make some room for the rest of us!
The problem with Postmodernism: too much style, not enough substance.. One of postmodernism's problems is that it tries to convince us that simulacra are more interesting than the original. Another is that, in all of its attacks on modernity, it does not mind that we are reduced to being mere consumers. Blais's Flip suffers both. What makes burgers great is their simplicity. High quality fresh ingredients, a sense of smell, and a grill or skillet are the only necessaries. Yet Blais, Atlanta's most high profile postmodernist, wants us to believe that there is something more valuable than this simplicity. He wants us to forget that the best burger we have ever eaten was most likely in our backyard. Even when it wasn't, it was certainly better than this. Cafe Boulud's famous foie gras burger, a too obvious inspiration for Blais's ridiculous Kobe burger, was marvelous because it worked within the context of its surroundings. Plus, because in paying $40.00 for it, one didn't feel they were being tricked or cheated. Boulud's burger was not meant to make us re-think the burger, just to show how high one's quality threshold could be. Blais's burgers instead reek of a contemptuous theoretician who, having failed to convince with his chemistry experiments, decided to see how much he could make us suffer in order to eat America's greatest comfort-food. Although it is unfair to compare Blais to Daniel Boulud, even if he did rip-off DB's burger, one cannot help but marvel at the distance between the two. Maybe it is the impeccable experience of dining with a master chef in stellar surroundings that so outweighs Blais's answer: blaring music, a mob, and a two hour wait for mediocre food precipitated by poor organization. (For it is the restaurant creating the wait, not the mob. Blais should keep in mind that not all customers will fill that time with profit-generating drinks and strained vocal chords.) Another problem with postmodernism is that it gladly sacrifices content for form. Flip, at this moment, confirms this in the saddest way.
At the end of the day it's still just a burger. OK, even though we were warned there would be a wait, nothing prepared us for an hour and a half wait at 5:30 on Saturday. That wasn't as bad as getting seated at 6:50, ordering right away (after all we all had plenty of time to decide what we were ordering) and waiting exactly one hour for our burger. I realize that everything is fresh and that is the main reason my party went. But Five Guys is fresh also and you wait a maximum of ten minutes on their busiest day! Portion sizes were a bit small (burgers and tots) but that was a minor complaint compared to the horrible management of the front of the house. No one in our party will be returning, after all it was just a burger. Sorry Richard! We tried another time to support you but just can't do it!
