WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!.
No one should ever go through this type of experience.
Although I encountered many problems throughout my visit, I do not want to waste any ones time. Let me just say that I was at the Firebird to watch the NFL games and I neither received anything I ordered on time or accurate. My waitress was not very attentive and I had to search for her each time I wanted something. Each time, she was at the server station on her phone texting. After 6 hours of this, I became a bit upset and asked for my bill. When she came back, I gave her my card and she authorized it. I then asked to speak with management.
The first manager immediately offered me a $20 discount on my next visit. He did not ask me if I had a problem or not. $20 off may seem like a fair resolution for someone with half the amount of problems that I encountered or that planned on returning. I declined his offer and asked if there was something that he could do about my current visit. He said that he will be right back.
The second manager, who was the GM, had a whole different approach. This man came to my table, put his fist down, and said that I needed to pay my bill and leave or he was going to call the police! It is his job to listen to guests, hear out there concerns and find resolutions. I was doing him a favor by telling him all of the problems I encountered. When I tried to explain to him of my service he then signaled the bartender to call the police. I then told him that I was not doing anything wrong and I had a bad experience with my service. He then looked at the server and asked her very threatening if she was going to pay my bill because of her service. She then said, well I didn't do my best. I then spoke up and said that I didn't think that was right that she should pay my bill. The GM said then this bill must be paid. The GM didn't care about me, nor did he care about his employee, and obviously he did not care about any of the other customers in the restaurant. I have been thinking this whole week that I caused the biggest scene of my life at this restaurant, but after some time to ponder what happened, it wasn't me causing the scene, it was the GM. I'm certain that everyone in the restaurant could hear us going back and forth. After about ten minutes of getting nowhere with the GM, I decided to leave. At this point I had had enough and just wanted to go home. When I tried to walk out the GM got in my way and told me I couldn't leave. He literally stood in my way and put his hand on my chest and held me back from leaving. I told him very sternly that I was leaving and he needed to get out of my way. He remained in my way and said that I was not allowed to leave until my bill was paid for. I then told him that I had already paid my bill prior to him arriving and that he needed to step to the side so that I could leave. He then looked over at the waitress who confirmed it. I then left the restaurant.
When I was finally allowed to leave the police were outside. I took 2 steps outside and they asked me to speak with them. I was asked if I had a problem tonight with this restaurant. I then told them I did. I had a bad experience and asked to speak to management who told me I needed to pay my bill or else and leave. I told the police that I have paid my bill and I am very upset by this and all I want to do is go home and go to bed. They listened to my problems, asked me if I was okay to go home. They then let me leave. The police acted with more hospitality than the GM did!
I used to manage a restaurant and I appreciate when guests speak up about their service. In trying to speak up about my service at the Firebird, I was almost arrested. I am very thankful that the police approached my problems with an open mind and did not immediately assume I did something wrong like the GM did. Bottom-line, don't express your concerns if you choose to dine here, you might spend a night in jail for it!
A Bit Overrated.
Unfortunately, my experience was not a great as the other posters. My mother and I chose this restaurant after reviewing their menu online and comparing it to other places in the Dunwoody/Sandy Springs area. She's not big on fancy restaurants so she picked this place since it’s a sports bar.
We had to seat ourselves which was not a problem, however, no one acknowledge our presence and I had to get up to go get menus from a server. There was another party that came in after us; however, they were greeted & served before us. We were 2 tables down from them near the entrance.
The waitress was completely rude, but it definitely was not a warm, inviting welcome. It was a very dry greeting that we received and it was obviously she didn't want to be there or serve us. It was almost like we were wasting her time and it was very quick “hi-bye-here’s your food-bye!” Since we looked at the menu online, we had an idea of what we wanted, so it wasn't like we were being picky, indecisive patrons that would understandably ignore someone. I've worked in the service industry & as a someone who LOVES to go to eat, those types of people ignore me.
The food wasn't terrible but it definitely did not live up our expectations from their website. I think my mother had the Fried Shrimp Plate and it look pitiful. I had the Veggie Wrap which was a disappointing. They didn't taste sauteed - more like cooked frozen veggies, very bland and I didn't taste the cheese. I love fries; however, their fries were bad. They were comparable to McDonalds & Wendy’s and I’m not very big on fast food. It's like they just grabbed some cheap frozen food, warmed it up, and tossed it on a plate. The servings were minimal. If you’re looking for healthy servings and really consistent service I would recommend Sandy Springs Dinner because they are a small spot but the food, serve, serving are outstanding! We didn't order any drinks but another table did and they looked like they were enjoying them.
The atmosphere in Firebird was a little dead, especially for a Saturday. The only good thing about the place is the small TVs at the tables, but I would rather watch one TV with other patrons in a crowded bar and get better service & food.
I was really hoping this would be a pleasant experience so I could return with some friends and co-workers because we are kind of getting bored with our usual spots. I live and work in this Perimeter area and this would have been a very good spot to meet up with people; however I will not be returning or recommending this place because it was not up to par.
Love the Wings!. The patio with a few freinds wathcing the big screen. It is very comfortable.
I have been to Firebird several times and each time has been a great experience. The staff at Firebird are super friendly which is a big seller for me. Firebird has a great drink selection and a really fun ladies' night, too. My favorite thing on the menu is their mandarin orange and Georgia pecan salad. Putting some warm, pulled rotisserie on top makes it even tastier.
Definitely check it out. It's hard to find a nice place to hang out these days that's reasonably priced and not pretentious at the same time. The patio will be awesome during the football season!
Exceptional food AND every game on planet earth!!!.
First went with friends and was impressed with the quality of the food. BIG wings with unique flavors for the adventurous types, as well as traditional flavors for the more conservative eaters. We also had ribs and sliders which were both exceptional. I'm not the healthiest eater, but I did noticed a lot of salad choices and a seared tuna dinner, among many other "non bar food" choices. As a group, we were impressed that going out for a beer and some baseball turned into a pleasant dining experience.
I couldn't help but return for my next wing craving and figured I'd go alone and see if I could find some baseball fans to watch the games with. The food was very consistent, very good. People in the bar area were open to conversation. It just felt comfortable. I got some good sports talk out of my system and eventually left happy once again.
I gotta say, this is my favorite place to watch college football, mlb, and nfl. If I lived in the immediate area, I'd go everyday. Unfortunately I only make it there every couple of weeks or so and have yet to be disappointed. If you're reading this and you want great food at good prices, I would highly recommend you try it at least once. If you are any kind of sports fan, you'll be glad you did!
Awesome place for drinks and food after work!. I have lived in Atlanta for 2 years now and love going Firebird. It has a great mixture of people so you if you don't like one conversation just move to the next table. The drinks there are priced great and the staff is really nice and on top of the orders all the time. I love going on thursdays because it seems that is when people always go for happy hour and there is a great crowd to mingle with. Finally the food. I would put Firebird's food in my top 3 of restaurant/bar combos. Always prepared perfect and usually comes out fast! I absolutely give firebird 5 stars!!!!
Great place to eat!. Working right around the corner, I have been here many times for lunch, happy hour, and diner. They have an awesome food selection that tastes great. never had anything bad on the menu. The beer selection is also very good. The staff that works here rocks as well, very friendly!
Great Food. I have been to Firebird several times for lunch and dinner. The patio they have is amazing, PERFECT for big events/b day parties/ office parties etc... There food is also fantastic! I have to say their ranch wings and ranch chicken tenders are the best in town! Happy hour is always affordable also! 5 stars!
Editorial Review by Jonathan Baker. Don't let the chicken/sports combo fool you, this bar gets cranking with late night eats, adult trivia and live music.
