What People Are Saying About Holy Taco

In Short – The sleekly designed digs look like Chipotle on a padded budget--uncharacteristic for the 'hood but cool all the same. Giant glass garage doors open up to a modern and spacious outdoor patio framed by light boxes. The menu is what you'd expect from an established chef, peppering taco-stand staples with a little pizzazz. Skip the uber-fried and surprisingly bland chips-and-salsa pairing, and opt for one of their tortas, a Mexican sandwich stuffed and served on a near-perfect roll from Alon's Bakery. Tacos are standard fare at standard price, but the roasted corn on the cobb,…
Editor's Tips
- The Extras:
- During the summer months, the bistro grills every Saturday night on the patio.
- Parking:
- There is a small lot, plus plenty of street parking on Glenwood.
- Where to Sit:
- If the weather is cooperating there is little reason not to snag a seat on the patio.

Awesome Mexican Fusion Food!
by jazzcar
Oh man, this is an amazing place to eat! Everything from the tortas to the tacos and fresh guacamole is top notch. Chef Phalen is very creative and talented and does things on his menu that you just don't see anywhere else in Atlanta. The servers are friendly and I always trust their recommendations. I also recommend this a destination place for virgin margaritas if you're pregnant but warning: you will crave them! And in case you're not pregnant, they have a HUGE selection of tequilas to choose from.
Skip it.

I've been here a few times and never really had good food. The descriptions look amazing, but the food is bland and way overpriced.
I love the patio so I kept trying to go back, but an overheard situation with a manager type person and a server sealed the deal for me. Whoever runs this place is a massive tool/ jerk. I wouldn't talk to a pile of dirt the way this person was talking to their own employee. We had good service, but the manager attitude could explain why others have trouble with the service. For totally boring food, I give up on the place.
- Pros: Patio
- Cons: Everything else
BOO!
by pizzamartyr
ordered 5 of 8 tacos. all were over dressed with some pickled thing or another. the only one that lacked proper dressing was the beef tongue, which had no onion, no lime, and virtually no cilantro....i have never been offered a tongue taco without all three. the server forgot to put in our order of guacamole, appologized when our tacos came out, and then asked if we had room for dessert before we got our guac. in his embarassment, he took all the silverware (even though we still had food), and the replacements he brought (after i asked=5 mintues) were filthy. while the wait staff were all busy, it seemed to me that we got less attention than tables that ordered alcohol. i'm not cheap, i just like water. OK, server dude? oh yeah, he took the pitcer of water off of our table to refresh the table next to ours....thats not cool.
DUDES IN CHARGE OF THIS PLACE: the patio was packed! you clearly have an audience somehow. your service is going to blow it!!!! also, people will not be interested for long with the half-way fancy, mostly not fancy menu. i was bored after the first half hour i waited for my guacamole.
- Pros: ?
- Cons: dirty silverware, greasy chips, attitude

Basically the food was NOT good... it was very bland... if you like real Mexican food, this is NOT the place for you... definitely not authentic... our server lied to us constantly... he was just super lazy... the atmosphere was very nice tho... very nice... the chips were super thick and greasy... I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone
- Pros: nice atmosphere
- Cons: bland food, bad service
EAV's best margarita AND best patio
by MissVia
This place is a little piece of awesome in the EAV, and it’s completely worthy of your food snob love. Also, Holy Taco has got to have one of my favorite patio’s in Atlanta. It’s huge. It’s rarely completely full. It offers great people-watching.
I like to try something new every time that I go because every time that I do, I end up LOVING IT. For instance, the last time we went we vowed to try something other than just guac and chips to start us off, and we fell madly in love with their arepas. All of the tacos that I’ve tried have rocked my tastebuds. Try being a little adventurous in this place. Skirt steak quesadilla with a side of the quinoa salad? Sounds odd, but is quite the combination.
Also, do your self a favor and top it off with a margarita. They make one of Atlanta’s finest.
- Pros: Excellent food, margaritas, service (I'm serious!), & PATIO!
- Cons: Haven't found one yet
