What People Are Saying About Parish Restaurant

In Short – The elongated Nawlins' style dual-story spot certainly doesn't lack on the charm-o-meter. The crusty old 1890s Inman Park building is jaw-droppingly beautiful and features a bustling basement market chocked with to-go goods and gourmet nibbles. In the upstairs dining room menus are scrawled on chalkboards and hang from century-old brick walls; a simple list of creative appetizers and Bayou-inspired entrees. The crawfish and chicken sausage cheesecake appetizer is a decadent wedge that's wonderfully weird, while the entree-sized andouillle-crusted New Orleans catfish comes…

Editor's Tips

What to Drink:
The tall Storm's Brewin' cocktail--a crisp ginger beer and dark rum transfusion, is spot-on for sipping.
Where to Sit:
While the dining room is a total looker and the patio is easily crowded, pony up to the raw bar to do oysters up right.
The Extras:
Hit the downstairs market for early morning coffee and pastries, po-boys for lunch or nab gourmet cheeses and artisianal wines.
Know Before You Go:
The market opens every morning at 7am and delivers the goods until the above restaurant shuts down.
Parking:
Parking is a madhouse--use the valet for a stressless experience.
Fun Fact:
It pays to be a neighbor. The market delivers for free to those in Inman Park.

Mediocre

by Lee Sun

I ordered the TV dinner, and it was served on a plastic lunch tray. Okay, I get the joke, but it was the most unpleasant experience ever. If the food was good, it immediately messed up the flavors in my mouth. It was salmon croquette, which wasn't fresh, so before I was finished eating my stomach started hurting. The cucumber vinaigrette tasted awful, a funky aftertaste from again, old vinaigrette that's been sitting on the fridge. My mother got the blackened new york strip, with so much red pepper if really took away from enjoying the entire dish. I was so disappointed, it was my mum's bday, and I really wanted it to be special The food was so mediocre, I will not be back. Bill was pretty steep for the quality we got. Good points: service was good, they also brought out a birthday desert.

  • Pros: Beautiful decor, service was good, cute basement market
  • Cons: Didn't like the food at all

Great Brunch hot spot

by KeithKNOWS

Looking for another Brunch/Breakfast option, you must go and checkout Parish foods and goods, it’s a quaint, cute, New Orleans styled, restaurant. Upstairs is cozy, beautifully decorated, downstairs, a market/deli and outdoor seating. My dining guest and I decided to avoid the long lines at some of our favorite breakfast spots(no names mentioned) and try something brand new.(well, new to us) Parish is tucked away in my favorite and former neighborhood, Inman Park. We decided on brunch, I had “Bella’s Omelette” stuffed with mushrooms, spinach, sharp cheddar, on the side…ummm…. ummm, good, grits(I was pleasantly surprised, I don’t usually eat grits, these were buttery, creamy, delicious) my dining guest agreed. My dining guest, feasted on “Eggs Boudreaux”, Louisiana crab cake, egg, andouille sausage, spiked creole sauce, with a side of pontalba hash(potatoes), which we both thought was not very tasty. All guests receive complimentary beignets, now those were so good, we ate too many.(LOL) Be sure to checkout the market filled with Serenbe Farms goodies.(Serenbe Farms is a local farm and community that focuses on going green and organic farming, living) Bring your laptop with you there’s free wi-fi, sit outdoors, relax, chill, grab a bite to eat.

Call me, I’ll meet you there! (reviewed, Oct 4, 09)

  • Pros: Great beignets, excellent customer service
  • Cons: n/a
