Editorial Review for Whiskey Park – by Jonathan Baker
In Short
Lofted above the Spice Market in Midtown's trendy W Hotel, Gerber-owned Whiskey Park is more LA-exclusive than Atlanta-hip. CIA-looking characters guard velvet ropes while a glam-tastic mirror angles above the bar giving drinkers a chance to scope talent without staring. The clientele is an interesting mix--expense account-holding businessmen mingle among dolled-up girls hoping for a Dallas Austin sighting. The Vault, a hidden VIP room is coated in blackly-appropriate darkness boasting its own private bar. All the decadence gives Atlantans the chance to escape, but bring heavy plastic--it's LA-expensive.

Insider Tips
When to GoLooking for action? The place gets packed just before midnight, but if you are looking to do business, it's still super-cool at 9pm.
Know Before You GoThe doormen seem to think their job is a little more serious than it actually is and have a tendency get snippy.
What to DrinkDespite having "whiskey" in the name, the bar doesn't have a signature whiskey cocktail--go with the raspberry caipirinha instead.
ParkingTo get around the $16 Valet and uber-expensive Colony Square garage--dine at the Spice Market, who will validate your parking and use the Whiskey for a night-cap.
The ExtrasThose in the mood to dance while drinking, DJ's spin Wednesday through Saturday nights.
Fun FactHigh-rollers can blow their cash on flash with bottle service in reserved lounge seating.

My girlfriends and I went to Whiskey Park last Saturday. We were stopped at the door since our names weren't on the list, but the (hot) manager was walking by and escorted us up the stairs to the bar. Once we got upstairs I appreciated the stiff door policy because the crowd was a nice mix, not to mention beautiful (as was the entire staff). My martini was a bit pricey for Atlanta but it was the BEST BLUEBERRY MARTINI I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!! There was no smoking inside which is nice for my friends that don't smoke but the bartender said they would be opening an outdoor patio soon for those craving nicotine (like me). Overall, we had a great time and look forward to going back this weekend!
Pros: service, drink selection
Cons: expensive parking

My girlfriend and I have been wanting to check this place out as we had heard it was a busy spot for the weekends, and atlhough we arrived early evening, there was already people streaming in. We waited a few minutes but once inside the scene was a breath of fresh air. Quality drinks, beautiful people and everything you'd expect from the W. We toured the lobby a bit then looked into the Whiskey Bar. We got in just in time to see P. Diddy and his entourage while everyone else seemed oblivious! The Dj was pretty good but the tables were scarce. We were able to get a couple of seats at a table next to the bar and our waitress was excellent. I asked if there was a place to smoke, but you had to leave in order to do so. We had a great time but cut it a bit short as I really needed a cigarrette. Definately going back, soon!
