A team that flows together...stays together.. Omg, my experience at Like The River Salon, was all that I thought it would be and more. For starters, I was pleasantly greeted by the receptionist who also happened to serve as my human navigator as she gave me perfect directions to the salons convenient midtown location on Highland Ave. I immediately took comfort in the salons serene, tranquil, yet inviting ambiance. Then, after only a few short minutes, I received a warm embrace by non-other than the shops owner, Najah Aziz (who by-the-way, was the stylist that had been recommended to me by Kiara Akita.) She was so friendly and personable, I felt as if we had already met somewhere prior. Well, shortly thereafter, I was offered a variety of breakfast pastries, desserts, and beverages which was great considering I had been rushing out the house that morning for my appointment; thus I didn't quite have the time to stop and grab a bite to eat. This was very thoughtful and well recieved; needless to say, I induldge!!!

Moments later, I began on the first step of my hair process, the relaxer. Cheryl, Najah's assistant, took great care of this step. Our conversation was light, but memorable. Cheryl is a stylist/singer from Chicago who loves experimenting with diffrent hair styles and colors which, in my opinion, she happens to wear very well. Oh and did I mention that I was given a FREE color rinse!!! Yeah, because I didn't come prepared to pay for this addition and it was highly needed, Najah did not hesistate to "keep it real" with me. She politley said: "this one is on the house." I gasped. She continued: "I can't have you leaving out of there looking all dusty." (LOLOLOL) I laughed. Now to some people this may sound offensive, but when you're as real as I am, this was something only a caring friend would say to another caring friend; thus I deeply respected Najah for her blunt honestly and gratefully took her up on her suggestion. Now once at the shampoo bowl, man oh man, did Cheryl do me justice. I nearly fell asleep as she thoroughly massaged my itchy scalp, I didn't want this particular step to end.....

After coming from up under the dryer, it was time for Najah to work her magic! I loved the fact that she and the rest of her collegues don't use your typical marcels when curling your hair. Instead, they all use an assortment of Chi Irons, ranging from cute petite to the well needed large. I, myself, prefer the Chi Irons because from my own personal use of them, I like the fact that the heat is evenly distributed throughout the entire iron; unlike with the marcels which have been known to burn your hair completely out when overheated. Ugh!

Finally, after Najah had educated me on hair care maintenance and encouraged me to step outside of my normal (safe)hairstyle box- she spun me around to see her creation..... I nearly came to tears. My hair was not only jet black, soft and managable, but it was also beautiful and still so ME. I walked away renewed; happy and confident. I didn't even want to go in to work after that kind of treatment! I wanted to just take the rest of the day off to go show off my new fabulous do & continue pampering myself- whynot! My hair experience that day served a purpose of both, outside and inside beauty fulfillment.

So hats off to Najah and her wonderful catering staff, together, their customer service and professional skills flow- "Like The River." :o)

Thank You Guys!

Very good saloon. Salon is awesome. great atmosphere and trying a new naturale hair style, the stylist made me feel comfortable and confindence about my decision. The style was only temporary. I wanted to give the naturale look a try. Altho i did not go back to the salon, I would recommend it to others. Finding a new hair stylist can be expensive and damaging for your hair b.c you have a lot of different people in your head. Over all Good salon

I wish I could bring Najah back to Cali with me!!!!!. I have nothing but positive remarks for my first time experience at Like The River The Salon with Najah. I have visited several salons in GA, CA, MI, and NY. One of my pet peeves is that some salons are not very clean, the receptionist is rude, and the WHITE towels are dingy and raggedy. Not the The River...beautiful modern clean salon, professional receptionist and BLACK clean towels.

Najah, is awesome!!!!! She knows what she is doing and does is good!!!! I left the salon with a haircut that I truly love and compliments from friends and family. A couple of days later Najah followed up with a phone call asking how I was doing and if I still liked my hair. I have never had a hair stylist do a follow up with me.

I highly recommend this salon...you will not only come away with a wonderful hair style, but also a good experience with a professional. My only regret is that I have to go back to California and can't bring Najah with me to maintain my new do!!!!

great salon. LTR is a great experience and Najah is an EXCELLENT stylist. Her short cuts are exquisite! Najah is very concerned about your preferences and needs as well as helping you maintain your look in-between appointments. Everyone is pleasant and professional. I'm surprised at the negative comment regarding Terion. He has done my hair a few times and I've been very pleased. I would (and have) recommended LTR highly.

Response to "Bad Experience" comment. This unfortunate situation (cited in merchant539307's post) is completely related to the philosophy that helped Like The River's acknowledgement as a "Best of Atlanta" hair salon for 2009 by the Atlanta Tribune magazine.

We pride ourselves on providing the best service in an efficient manner, eliminating the prospect of overly lengthy time in the salon. That's achieved through not double-booking clients and clients arriving to their appointments on time.

In this case, the client called the salon five minutes AFTER the schedule appointment and was told there was a 15-minute grace period. Ultimately, the client arrived 35 minutes late, which is unacceptable. Servicing a client that late would have been unfair to the next client, who arrived on time for her appointment. It would create a chain reaction of other clients being serviced late because this client was 35-minutes late. Not fair.

We respect client's time by servicing them in a professional and timely fashion. Clients have to respect stylists' time, too, and arrive on time. No one likes to lose a client. But we will not compromise on being fair to ALL our clients for the sake of a client who knew the policy and still arrived 35 minutes late.

Response to like the rivers comment of my bad experience. This is in response to like the river the salons response to my bad experience. Unfortunately , the first time we went to the salon our stylist was late. We had a 6am appointment in which our stylist was not there at 6am. We were asked by one of the assistants who we were waiting for and then we were told that the stylist should be there shortly. We proceeded to wait about 15 mins and then the stylist showed up. We thought that this was a little inconsiderate considering it was 6am but even though the stylist was late, we decided to stay and not pre-judge the salon.

We are very respectful of our stylists time as well as the time of other clients. We believe that an effort should have been made by our stylist and the salon to service us and not to push us off to another stylist. Our appointment was at 7am and when we called we were told that if we were there by 7:30 , we would be seen.

Like the River is a great salon and we are not taking anything away from that fact. We wish more would have been done by the salon owner to make us feel like we weren't just another "client ". I am a business owner myself. And in my business , we make sure that all clients have a great experience no matter what. A lot of times in business as a owner you have to step up to the plate even though a client may have fell short.

All in all ,Terion is a great stylist, with a great personality. We are saddened because we really liked the salon and we thought we found a salon that we could call home.

The best salon in town. From the minute you walk in the door you realize this isn't your ordinary salon. The decor is fabulous! The giant waterfall in the receptionist area immediately brings a sense of calm. The gentle music playing overhead relaxes you. And there's not enough room on this page to discuss the excellent customer service provided by master stylist/owner Najah. Her shop, her business etiquette and her immense talent set her apart from the rest. She's not your ordinary stylist/owner and that reflects in the atmosphere she's created inside the "River."

love love love LTR. I found LTR in Jezebel magazine and I've had the magazine on the advertisement since May but kept putting off making an appointment finally I made the appointment and was upset with myself for not making it sooner after my experience with Najah no other stylist will touch my hair, She gave me exactly what i was looking for and i LOVE LOVE LOVE my haircut although I am growing my hair back out I am looking forward to how Najah will work with the different lengths but I have the up most faith that I will never have another hair issue because my hair has found it's home in Najah's hand, not to mention many of the clients of the other stylists were as I say " on my hair level" ......chic, professional, edgy with an undeniable elegance that is LTR in words.(which is very hard to find in Atlanta) It's so good you don't want to share the gem but you want everyone to know what a gem it is, yes it's that good.

Casha and Paul are the BEST stylist team in the shop!!!!!!!. Casha and Paul are a dynamic duo. Casha is known for her creativity, speed, professionalism, and versatility with all hair types. Her styles range from trendy, professional, retro, edgy, & high fashion. I have been going to her for about 4-5 yrs. She is the BEST!!!!! Her better half, Paul is a gem. He is known for making you laugh, relieving some of the pressure of a busy day and getting you ready for Casha!!! They are the ULTIMATE partners and work well together. Once you have gone to Casha, its almost impossible to go somewhere else!!!
