Haircut from Hell!.
I saw some pictures from Like the River Salon on facebook and I decided I would try this salon out as I was in the market for a good hairstylist. I really liked the pictures of Najah's work, but
since she didn't have any appointments for months to come, I decided on Shannon as she appeared to have good work as well. Mistake #1, I should have just waited.
I initially went into the salon for a wash and trim; however, I decided at the spur of the moment that my hair really didn't have much of a shape, so I wanted it cut into a bob. What a mistake that was. I take full responsibility for getting my hair cut by a stylist that I wasn't familiar with. I should've waited to assess her work based on my normal hair length.
My service was completed back in June, and I say that to say, that I waited about three months to determine whether I was really pissed off about the hair cut itself or the length that she cut it at. I'm confirmed that I hate both and it was the worst decision I've made this summer.
First of all she never even asked what kind of a bob I wanted. She just assumed that I wanted an elevated bob (short in the back gradually increasing in length on the sides). I didn't! In fact I wanted a blunt cut bob with the same length on all sides. She would've known this had she asked me instead of just chopping into my hair. To put this review in perspective my hair was just below my shoulders in the back. She cut it up to my ear! Who the hell does that without knowing the customer or having had conducted a proper consultation. I think she sensed that I was unhappy, because after it was all said and done she asked me "Did I cut it to short?" I'm sure she knew it was too short. It took all I had not to cuss her out or behave ignorantly. But to say I hated her after my hair was done is definitely putting it midly.
Needless to say, I walked out with a horrible old school bob that I hated. I immediately got a sew in since I couldn't stand the sight of it. Nevertheless, I'm stuck with this cut and everytime I look at it, I get pissed off over again. I take the responsibility for deciding on a hair cut with a stylist that I didn't really know, but based on the reviews I thought that this was a professional establishment that conducted real consultations before servicing customers.
I won't be visiting this place EVER again, and furtherrmore, please make sure you are specific with what you want. Don't leave it up to Shannon to be professional.…
SO IM THE LIAR. OKAY THIS IS A GREAT SALON THAT I HAVE BEEN TO IN YEARS. KESHIA WAS MY STYLIST, I WAS THERE EVERY WEEK BUT THERE SCHEDULING IS REALLY BAD MY LAST DAY WAS WHEN I HAD A ISSUE WITH A GUY AT THE SALON ABOUT CONFIRM N MY TIME. I WAS SCHEDULE FOR A 12PM AND I WANTED TO COME IN EARLY BUT HE DECIDED FOR ME THAT I WAS GOING TO COME IN AT 7AM NEVER DID I TELL HIM OR COMMINCATE 7AM WHEN I SHOWED UP AT 12 HE SAID THAT I MISSED MY APPT AT 7 THAT I DIDNT HAVE NO IDEA OF!!! I DID MY BEST OF STAY N COOL BUT I RELLY DIDNT LIKE WHEN HE TRIED TO MAKE ME FEEL LIKE A LIAR SO I ASKED TO TALK TO THE OWNER HE SAID HE WAS I SAID NO I WANT TO TALK TO NAIJA HE WENT TO GET HER AND SHE MADE THE SITUATION WORST SAY N MAYBE IT MY SERVICE PROVIDER OMG REALLY (EVEN IF THAT WAS THE SITUATION U DNT PUT ME DOWN FOR A TIME I DIDNT CONFIRM) I TOLD THEM I WONT BE BACK B/C THAT WAS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN...…
Keisha is the bomb. I have short relaxed hair that gets very very dry and due to a bad relaxer job from a previous stylist my hair was even more dry! Keisha gave me alot of good info on how to moisturize my hair and my hair is sooo soft, she listened to my concerns and she did a very good job on my hair. It looks so healthy and shiny!…

I am from Pennsylvania but found Like the River online while doing research on salons and stylists...sooooo glad about it. Najah Aziz is my new shero! She made my experience simply fantastic! She and her stylists are very professional and polite. My hair was so damaged and blah but Najah worked her magic! My new cut is hott!!! What a perfectionist! Everyone LOVES my hair...I feel & look great! Thanks Najah & Cheryl... you two made my trip to Atlanta the best in years! I WILL BE BACK!!! I just recently relocate to the Downtown Atlanta Area and was in search of a Hair Salon to call home. I am a business professional who pride myself in giving impeccable customer service to my clients. I was in search of a Salon that would also provide me impeccable hair care service. I found what I have been searching for in a Hair Salon at “Like the River Salon. The Ideal Experience …..If you are well aware in advance of the cost, time you want to spend and the type of surrounding that will be most advantageous for you, you’re on your way to finding the right hair salon. The initial call to the salon to schedule an appointment was very warm and receptive, Maryam Aziz did an exceptional job scheduling myself and my daughter who was home visiting from college. Keisha and Ty (Master Stylists), both were very professional and knowledgeable of what we needed to achieve the ultimate “Healthy Hair” result. Keisha asked questions and gave her expert suggestions; she listened to what I desired. Ty, my daughter is still talking about her hair. We both have received so many compliments. Walking into the Salon just felt right, wonderful ambiance and a relaxing environment with stylists who were dressed stylish and professional. The décor was warm and inviting. Great music..**What was incredible was the fact that my daughter , who had a full perm-touch up and trim and I, whom had a shampoo and style and color enhancement, were BOTH in at 12:30pm and out by 3:00PM , UNBELIEVABLE** We both were SO Satisfied and the look was FABULOUS with HEALTHY LOOKING HAIRSTYLES. AMAZING!!!! The diverse magazines were very informative I especially like the “Piedmont Review”. The fruit punch beverage was delicious.:-)) “All” the Stylists were servicing their prospective clients and that in it’s self was refreshing to observe. The Restroom was clean and spa like, LOVE the CANDLE. The owner Naja Aziz, was very pleasant to talk with and I admire the fact that she is running a “Professional Establishment” and it’s just how Salons should be operating, like a “ Business” servicing the clients need in a positive environment. NOT sitting 5 or more hours after a long work day or busy personal schedule. I visited several other hair salons in the Downtown/Midtown Atlanta area before visiting “Like The River The Salon”. WE really ENJOYED our first experience and will now become regular clients. I called the Salon on a Friday afternoon after viewing their website the night before; I was very impress with the Creativity of the professional website site. The website was easy to navigate around and it was loaded with tons of photos of the Salon clients. I was impressed with the articles of how the salon gave back to not just one community service, but several community organizations geared to women issues. GREAT!!!!!! I look forward to an enjoyable relationship with the Salon and its Staff. Thank you ladies for being on TOP OF YOUR GAME…LOVE IT.
