Love :)

by Stallion09

I followed my stylist to Salon Rouge. Due to my "special" grade of hair (multiracial curls) I'm very picky and OCD about who touches my hair. Up until one year ago I had never been to a hair salon due to serious trust issues and various mishaps surrounding my head. Now, no one other than Ms. D'asha herself can cut and style my hair. She listens to what I desire the end product to be as well as complimenting and recommending where she thinks is necessary, and is usually dead-on. I *always* get a thousand and one compliments on my hair (and serious rise in self esteem) and I don't know how many times I've run out of her business cards. My best friend, who has a much thicker, kinkier, grade of hair, was the first person in the chair under D'asha's care, which to me is a sign of a tried and true stylist. I've watched her tame my lioness mane and plenty of other Hair Crisis' into gorgeous and healthy hair. If I could I'd put her on salary and have her at my beck and call, but for now I'm happy with every couple of weeks. (And as for pricing: for the services I receive and the end result I get, I'd pay TWICE as much as they charge. Also, there is a new pricing sheet, "new talent" stylists are a lot cheaper but the pricing available from "master/senior" stylists isn't that bad....and I'm in college.)

As for the salon itself, it's very nice and well thought, planned, and executed out. It's lavish without being crowded or gaudy and the colors are relaxing and nonthreatening. There's free parking attached to the building and the salon is located in a convenient part of the city. Everyone so far has been super friendly and very willing to comply with every (--if ever--) need of the customer. Couldn't ask for any more, really.

  • Pros: Awesome hair.
  • Cons: ...none to be found.

Great salon - Great cut

by Midtowndoctor

I moved to Atlanta from LA about 4 months ago. I tried four Salons and was never happy with a hair cut till I visited Salon Rouge. It was recommended to me by a friend's wife. I arrived five minutes before my appointment and enjoyed a cup of AVEDA tea while waiting for my stylist, Scott, who was recommended by my friend's wife as well. First of all, the place itself is amazingly gorgeous; together with free head-and-neck massage and the steam towel on my face, I felt like I was in paradise. I appreciate the fact that Scott spent enough time discussing with me how I would like my hair cut. He also made a couple of suggestions which I agreed to. I have never been as happy with a hair cut as the one I got at this salon. The service was great, the attitude was great and very laidback, and even though there were other customers, I still felt I was special. Even though it's an AVEDA salon and they carry AVEDA products, no one tried to push me into buying anything unlike any of the other salons I've been to. The rate was nothing compared to any of the other places I've been to, yet I never had so many compliments on a haircut. I will recommend this place to anyone looking for a great haircut.

  • Pros: free parking, reasonable rates, beautiful place and atmosphere
  • Cons: None that I can think of

my sad experience

by oleia

My most expensive salon experience ever!I go to another salon(one of the best),but this time I was short on cash so I decided to save money by trying a less pricy salon.I spotted a cute-looking salon ROUGE in the Plaza Midtown.I looked'em up and found an ad that they had student discounts on Wed's.I called'em and was told that partial foil was 85$.I usually get my partial highlights for 110$,which includes the roots as well,so I thought I'm gonna save money. So today(wednesday)I came to Rouge and received GREAT service by Scott. I got my highlights and the roots done, and the hair blowdried. When I came to pay and showed the ad,the owner said the discounts are on TUE's and THU's, but she'd still give me 10% off.The receptionist said, 'Your total's 160.50'. I was astonished!!!When I asked to explain the charges, she said 120 for the full foil, and 45 for blowdrying! I said, 'So you charge your customers for blowdrying?', to which the owner said: "Isn't that what most salons do?' I asked Scott why he charged me for the full foil, and he said because he dyed my roots too, which was fine by me, so I said, 'Fine, let's just charge my card and get it over with...', when the owner said, that since I was the 1st-time customer, she'll give me 20%off. Later I realized, that the discount was only for the blowdrying, because they 'don't discount chemical services'...so I got a total "20%" discount of 9$!!!I ended up paying 156$!When I go to an expensive salon I expect blowdrying to be complimentary! It's like if they knew I couldn't afford to pay 45 for it, they'd make me leave with my hair wet?I expect to be told ahead of time of the upcoming charges! You can't dry my hair, and later tell me it's 45$!The interior is nice though, but the atmosphere is boring;I was the only customer(and now I know why!) and there was only one stylist; the owner looked like she owns a Wal-mart,not in a stylish hairsalon.Don't go there! For this kind of money, there're much better salons out there!

  • Pros: parking
  • Cons: value
