I've had bad cut after bad cut here in Atlanta. I have very course "ethnic" hair that stems from my Filipino-Vietnamese roots. It's hard to cut my hair correctly so that it's free-flowing and vibrant. This cut looks good styled and wash-and-wear... I don't have to over style or over -product... I f^#$%ing love it.
Where have you been hiding Kimberly??????
Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

I decided to venture out to Grant Park after seeing this place show up on my Scoutmob app. And all I can say is I am glad I did! I am one of those people that is on a quest to find the RIGHT stylist for me that just keeps me coming back for more.
I just got my hair cut and styled yesterday afternoon by Stacy and I cant say enough wonderful things about it! I work at Grady so the salon was literally a stones throw away from this really cute, funky shopping center. I was excited to see there was PLENTY of parking after dealing with many high end salons in the past without parking. I walked in about 10 minutes early to assess the place and immediately fell in love with the warehouse-y feeling decor. I met Stacy immediately at the front and got set up for my wash and style. I showed Stacy the picture of the style I wanted and could tell she was excited and giddy as I was about ending result. She showed me how to style my hair using two different methods, which other salons have charged me extra for in the past. She was also extremely detailed in making sure every layer and end was cut precisely. Given that she also has curly hair, she was able to recommend products and methods that can tame the beast. When I got home, my boyfriend couldn't stop smiling and my roommate said my $37 (with tip) haircut/style is something that would cost over $200 in Chicago or NY. I think I may have finally found my stylist!
You won't regret it!

I visited Lux after getting tired of feeling like just a $ sign at a midtown salon. Don't get me wrong, the midtown place did great work but they always made me feel like I didn't spend enough or visit enough. Then they had a Groupon and couldn't recommend a service for me to use with the Groupon. After a appt snafu, I figured enough was enough. I began a new search for a salon and stumbled upon Lux. After reading the reviews I took the plunge and called and was booked with Sarah.
I was worried because I am Hispanic and most places either don't know how to do my hair, want to over process my hair, etc. The receptionist listened to my concern and booked me with Sarah.
Sarah worked magic on my hair. She was personable, quick and left my hair looking fabulous. She listened to me ramble about any and everything and added her own charm. When I asked her about possibly getting the highlights in my hair out, she told me what we could do. When I told her that I think I needed a lesson in how to really style my hair curly, she suggested I come in and we do just that. My last stylist never did, she always blew off anything I said or told me it would take too much maintenance. It was such a relief to meet Sarah and have her actually pay attention to ME.
If you have curly hair and are looking for a change from uppity salons that charge too much, then I highly recommend Lux and Sarah!
Best stylist I've had in 2 years

Recently i went to Lux the Salon in Grant Park and I LOVED my experience. I am in the military with shoulder length hair, and recently I stopped getting relaxers in Octobe 09 so it has been hard for me to find a stylist that can handle my hair texture. Being in the military I was sick of putting my hair in a ponytail/bun everyday so i just wanted to cut it off just enough for work, and still have enough for a ponytail if i need it. I live in VA and it has been hard for me to find a stylist that can cut as well as straighten my hair texture. Last month I recieved the keratin treatment by coppola so it has been hard for me to find an ethnic stlylist who knows how to do this. I have gone to the dominican salons which dont really care about the health of your hair. I've also gone to the ethnic stylists in my area and they dont really know how to handle my kinky hair textures without a relaxer. It just so happend that I was in the ATL area this weekend. After reviewing the reviews from this site, i decided to give Lux the Salon in Grant Park a try. Adrienne was my stylist. She was great. She had the Sulfate free/ Sodium Free that is need for folks with keratin in their hair and the cut was perfect. I have been getting compliments from everyone at work. I WILL be back for future appointments, even if i have to fly back to ATL. A good stylist is hard to find.

GO SEE DJ!
If you have any color or cut issues, she is your woman! Being biracial (black and white), it is often hard to find a stylist and colorist. DJ was completely comfortable with my hair and tamed the beast easily (very impressive!) I went in with a color job that had gone wrong and mediocre hair cut. I walked out with the perfect color and cut without giving hardly any direction. She was friendly, fun, and knowledgeable giving me great hair advice and great restaurants to try. I plan on going back to see her next time she's in town!
Also, Grant Park is a great, cute, artsy area, and Lux the Salon at Grant Park exemplifies the neighborhood. Everyone was friendly, and the atmosphere was inviting. Despite being in the chair for hours, I was comfortable and content the whole time. They also sell great products from traditional lines like Sebastian and new organic lines such as Davine's. The stylists know exactly what products to use for desired results.
