Unimpressive to say the least. Boy, this place sucked out loud. My husband ordered the cobb salad. Yech. It was really a chopped salad with all the ingredients of a cobb salad in piles. It included cold sliced potato?!?! When my husband got home he broke out in hives. Not fresh shrimp....frozen like the stuff you buy in bags. Yech. I had a salad duet. The Shrimp Louis was just shrimp swimming in some kind of mayo. The other salad was a piece of salmon (nicely done) with lettuce under it also swimming in some sort of bacon dressing. We've always heard this place was supposed to be great. Hmmmm...Wondering when that was. What we had was really bad. No reason to go back.
Not Impressed. I was so excited to see that this restaurant was on the Midtown Restaurant Week. I had always wanted to try it. I should have kept wanting to try it. This was some of the worse food I ever tasted. First of all they served you kids size portion (I guess they thought $35.00 wasn't enough for a real meal). I had a crab cake which was salty but I ate because I was hungry. My friend had clam chowder that was so salty he could not eat it. Next came the entrees. I had shrimp and grits. Shrimp was tough were it was overcooked and the grits did not have any taste to them. My friend had fish which was so tough from being overcooked that he had to use a knife like he was cutting a steak. Next came the dessert. I do have to give them props on the dessert that's why I gave them one star. The key lime pie was great and so was the service. I left a good tip for the server because it was not his fault that the food was so bad. I can't believe that this is supposed to be a 5 star restaurant. . Save your money and go somewhere else for seafood..
Great dining experience. We went herd while in town for a conference. It was great! the food was just incredible. Many choices...menu changes daily. if you like seafood, you will love this place.
EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE. I dined here while in Atlanta and the lobster stuffed with cajun stuffing (which was recommended by our server and not on the menu) was prepared to perfection. The restaurant is elegant and the server was great. The cost for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and drinks was just under $200. Pricey but definately worth it
Hands down best Seafood.
I go here on average once a month. Without a doubt the best seafood in Atlanta. Far exceeds Atlanta Fish Market in Buckhead. The seafood is fresh and flown in daily. Large selection of fish, crab and lobster dishes. The steak selections are good as well, but you should go here for the seafood. It's a chain, but does not have a chain feel.
The wait staff is extremely helpful with the daily line up. The menu changes daily depending on the availability of fresh seafood. They will do just about any preparation you want and bend over backwards to make sure you are happy.
The side dishes are large and should be shared. Wine selections are extensive and they pour generous servings.
The atmosphere is elegant but I have been there in nice jeans and a nice shirt and felt comfortable. It?s not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Great experience as usual. I love the Oceannaire. Every time I go I have a wonderful exp. I went for my anniversary and they staff made us feel xtra special. Personalized menu, card signed by the staff, complimentary desert and a wonderful champagne and sorbet mix. The service and food was wonderful as always.
Good service.....terrible food!. Terrible food. The service was good - no complaints there - but the food was horrible. My girlfriend and I both had rainbow trout - mine was overcooked...very dry. I thought that was bad but when I noticed that my gf was hardly eating hers I tried a bite and it was so undercooked it was disgusting. This was a big letdown as the only meat I eat is fish and was excited about going there. Like I said the service was fine & the place is nice enough but that is easiily one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had.
the seafood was ok. My expectations were way too high when I entered Oceanaire. The setting is wonderful and just like a boat. The theme goes along with the WHOLE restaurant, including the bathrooms that I liked. The food was okay though, I thought I was looking for more though. My fish was too sweet and my buddys food order got mixed up. My service wasn't as prompt as I wanted it to be also. I had to TRY to catch my waiter for about 10 minutes when he kept walking by me. This place is too pricey for the service and food.
Overpriced.
Food was good but I sure don't like being pushed into more expensive wine and waiting till we are about finished with a bottle before bringing out the course that wine is to be served with and then reccomending another bottle for that course. This happened more than once and we brought it to the attention of the manager. Free deserts whoo hoo because that makes up for the extra $$$$ on wine. Not.
