I wished I lived closer to this place!!! – My husband and I were in Atlanta a few days ago and pulled up a list of restaurants on my TomTom. This place sounded good, and we were NOT disappointed! Just incredible! The food was fabulous, the service was wonderful, and the ambiance was relaxing. I only wished we lived closer so that I could eat here on a regular basis. The steak my husband ate was honestly one of the best he's ever had (his own words) and my Chicken and Shrimp meal was oh-so tasty! We tried two pieces of cheesecake that make my mouth water now just thinking about them.
Avoid this restaurant – Do not believe the positive reviews. They must be planted or very, very outdated. This restaurant is awful. The steaks are the same quality you would get at a Quincy's. Over half of each steak we ordered was inedible fat. We should have sent them back, but did not feel like doing battle. I just wanted to leave. A huge waste of money. Never, ever again.
Simon's is HORRIBLE!! – My husband and I went to Simon's today and the food was horrific! Appetizers: The fried green tomatoes were greasy...I had to use a paper napkin to dap some of the oil away before I ate it...NASTY! My husband's gumbo was missing seafood and taste! Entree: We ordered spaghetti from the children's menu for our daughter. It was a big bowl of spaghetti noodles with 2 tablespoons of Ragu. I had the stuff flounder... no flavor and overcooked; my husband's crabcakes...bland!! Everytime the waitress came and asked if we were ok... I smiled. I didn't have the heart to tell her NO! She was nice and I couldn't stomach anything else on the menu. I just wanted to leave and NEVER return.
May I add, I got so ill from the greasy tomatoes...I threw up! This was probably the WORST experience I have ever had dining in the ATL area! $65 down the drain!!!
Simon's has really lost it's flavor – Last year Simon's was my favorite restaurant. I had not been in a while, so last night I decided to go there with a couple of friends. We ordered a bottle of reisling for 20.00 bucks(i can get this bottle for $9.99 at any Towers package store) and ordered what was at one time my favorite dish, the crab and corn chowder and the stuffed shrimp(the stuffing was suppose to be crab stuffing). Our meal arrived and boy were we dissappointed. There was no crab in the chowder, just corn and heavy corn starch. the stuff shrimp was stuff with bread stuffing only. we sent both dishes back with a complaint. The waitress did admit that the restaurant was under new management and he was very cheap,and he cuts corners on the ingrediants. credit was given on the corn chowder, but not the 2 orders of stuffed shrimp. I wont go back. I project that Simon's may be closed by year end, if things don't change.
Exactly what the reviews say - EXCELLENT! – My boyfriend and I were visiting Atlanta, GA for a mere two days at the end of September 2008, before heading to Hilton Head, SC. We were in the mood for steak and seafood, but did not want to venture back into downtown Atlanta. We were staying at the Westin Airport. Thanks to the "reviews", we chose Simon's. It was exactly as everyone had previously stated. As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted with a warm smile and a magnificent display of desserts. Our server was Byron, a St. Louis transplant. Much to his dismay, I enlightened him on the reviews of the restaurant as well as his kindness to others. We dined on Oysters Rockefeller as well as the Rib-eye, finished with the Pecan/Cheesecake Pie. I strongly recommend this fine establishment to anyone looking for a relaxing evening and a great meal.
* BYRON, YOU'RE THE REASON WE ATE AT SIMON'S. YOU'RE A GEM! *
Magnificent – Spent my bday there on Aug 11, 2008 and the food was GREAT!!!!!! the service was excellent. We had the steaks and the ribs and my daughter had the hotwings and everything from the salad to the chowder was good. Happy to see another A+ restaurant on the Southside.
Memorable Evening – We ate at Simmon's while we were visiting College Park, Georgia on June 5th, 2008 and was delighted with the entire experience. I believe our servers name was Bryson and he was terriffic and very helpful. All of the staff were very friendly and had great people skills. Part of our party ordered steaks and the other half ordered seafood; I had the seafood and it was really good! My husband and I were soon to celebrate our 37th anniversary and Bryson over heard us and at the end of the meal he brought out a huge piece of strawberry cheesecake and the plate had written in rasberry glaze HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and the numbers 37 written in chocolate. We were very touched by this act of kindness and would like to thank everyone at Simmons for a wonderful evening. Too bad you don't have a place here in North Carolina, it would be our favorite place to dine! I strongly reccomend this fine establishment to anyone looking for a relaxing evening and a great meal. Be sure and try the fried green tomatoes also.
Best Restaurant in College Park, GA – Simon's is an excellent addition to the airport area especially with so many fast food restaurants and not enough full service restaurants. From the moment you walk in the door the service is attentive and the attitude of every associate is positive. The seafood is fabulous as well as the steaks, well heck everything is wonderful. The corn chowder is excellent and the sweet tea is perfect. The desserts are made right there and it is difficult to make a choice which to order.
I work in the area and try to go as often as possible. I would and do recommend Simon's Steak & Seafood to everyone I talk to. You can't go wrong with this restaurant, enjoy so I can say I told you so!
Best Steaks in the City – My first visit to this southside eatery, a friend had mentioned it to me a few weeks back. As you walk in to the restaurant it seems special, a very nice display of desserts makes your mouth water. We tried cajun BBQ shrimp as appetizer, very good flavor and right spice just like they serve in Louisiana. Next I had the Ribeye steak and my companion had Pecan crusted grouper. Ribeye was incredible in flavor and tenderness. Gouper was very well prepared and very tasty as well. The dessert we had was oreo cheesecake which was out of this world.
All in all, an excellent addition to southside clamoring for good restaurants, I would equate it to any restaurant in Buckhead without the drive. Definitely one of my favorites.
nothing truely out of the ordinary – Nothing truely special about this place. The food was ok, we had to send back the crabcake- a first. Not all the food was hot as it shoulda been. The corn chowder was ok, but nothing too much more special then a can of Campbells. This place excels at Fried food- with it tasting better then the broiled entress we ordered. Desserts are generous but just ok. It is unfortunate mediocrity is so prevalent south Of Midtown and regrettably this is another example. Id recomend going only if your expectations aren't too high and you are saving gas by not traveling to Midtown. Oh and Note to the owners its not fun walking outside where you just dined to see 2 smokers from your staff. While I recognize people smoke- Its just in very poor taste
