In Short – The port-hole in the front door gives a classic welcome to this tiny oceanic storefront in Castleberry Hill, dishing fried seafood to hungry neighbors on the fly. There are a few bar stools at the counter overlooking Peters St and the service is bubbly and friendly. This is simple fried seafood at its finest--Crab cakes are meat-heavy, like a giant hushpuppies busting at the seams, while fried shrimp sit next to buttery corn on the cobb. The glass-encased counter has take-home peel-n-eat shrimp, an array of seafood salads and homemade banana pudding that is downright…
FOOD IS AWESOME!

I have visited this place several and each time as just exceeded my expectations! The staff is amazingly friendly which is ALWAYS important and I just cannot SAY enough good things about the food! I really don't get to go as much as I want!
My last experience, my best friend & I went out. we ran into a friend. He sat with us and we ordered the 3 small plate special. We had the Mussels (INCREDIBLE!!!), Fried Chx Breast. It was huge! We thought it had a bone in it initially but to our delight it was ALL CRISPY FRIED GOODNESS! The Crab CAkes (ALL MEAT!!!! barely breaded but deep fried which was kinda different) and the green beans! I could eat the green beans everyday & be quite happy!
So when the waitress came back, she asked us did we want anything else, we said...YES! We want to order that again! she said what? We said...ALL OF IT! Then to our pleasurable delight our friend added a bucket of dungeness Crab legs... OMG!!!! Once you have these, you will leave the "snow legs" alone forever!
The night was a 10! It truly couldn't have gotten any better! The drinks were nice! The ambience was se*y. If you are looking for a Great reasonably priced night...you found it!
- Pros: THE BEST dungeness Crab in TOWN!
A pleasant surprise...

I visited Pearl / Baltimore Crab & Seafood for the first time on this past Wednesday night at the recommendation of a couple of friends. Prior to actually going in I've passed this restaurant countless times in route to other spots on Peters St and just wrote it off as a little fried fast food joint. Well in the front of the space, that's just what it is...take out. However, if your walk through to the back there is another aspect called Pearl which is a small sit down area with a small bar. Seating can be an issue if crowded...we only had about a 15-20 minute wait. They offer more that fried seafood items on their menu, like steamed crab buckets, shrimp and mussels which is what I had...a little heavy on the old bay that night. I also had their string beans which were absolutely delish! The most impressive piece to the dinner was the hostess / waitress / server, Dominique, I believe. She seemed to be doing everything for everyone at the same time and was extremely pleasant and well coordinated the entire time. Talk about multi tasking! Now that I know what's tucked away in the back, I will visit again when in the mood for crab legs.
- Pros: Service, Pearl Restaurant in back
- Cons: Tad bit small.
