“and a few come covered in fresh homemade cream.”
“There is no more good weather sandwich shop than LottaFrutta.”
I hear about this place from a few
local friends, What a surprise! this place is sooo good!
Everything was made right in front of us, everything was natural and everyone was just so nice to us outsiders. haha.
The soup was sooo good.
Fruit cups, ice pops, fresh sandwiches.. There is no more good weather sandwich shop than LottaFrutta. The two story house-like shop even feels like it's somewhere in tropics, complete with this cabana out front for extra beachy vibes. It might seem goofy on the surface, but regardless, I love this place. The fruit cups -- and it's exactly what you think, big cups of fresh, diced, fruit -- are out-of-this-world good... and a few come covered in fresh homemade cream. The cream is magically super-light. On a super-hot day I go with an ice pop, which are basically homemade popsicles made with fresh fruit juices, and for a $1.50, are a no-brainer. The sandwiches (well, I've only had one) was this vegetable sandwich that didn't have a tremendous amount of flavor, but it was a veggie sandwich so I didn't expect all that much. Plus on a hot day, you don't want some giant, meaty sandwich anyway. LottaFrutta: Atlanta's summer sandwich shack.
Great Local Spot. I have driven past Lottafrutta many times, and it never really occured to me to go in. This was most likely because I had no idea what I would find when I went inside. But, needing a quick bite on a Sunday afternoon, my boyfriend and I decided to venture in. The place is very cute on the inside, and extremely clean. They sell a variety of fresh fruit cups and simple grilled paninis. My boyfriend and I shared a traditional style fruit cup, which consisted of fresh cut pieces of mango, strawberries, banana, kiwi, etc., and the "Just Veggin" panini. Both things were delicious, and healthy I might add. The woman who took our order, I assume might be the owner, was very helpful and even offered us a taste of their delicious hot chocolate which they only offer on Sundays. We'll definately be back!
Vibrant Old Fourth Ward cafe features a tropical atmosphere and healthy, fruity fare..
In Short
A hard-to-miss, brightly painted town home serves as beacon for early risers looking for a fruit cup for the morning commute and neighborhood habitués seeking a light lunch later in the day. Per the name, fruit rules here, with a few exceptions. Exotic passion fruit and blackberry smoothies, icy pineapple fruit pops that refresh on hot days, and sizzling grilled sandwiches with turkey and melted Swiss keep locals coming back and provide sustenance to visitors to the nearby King Center.
