The Catfish and Grits Man!. Great place to visit on Sunday after church or Saturday when you have family in town.
Not a chip off the old block!!!.
I went to Thumbs up for lunch.. and was told to take any available seat. I took a empty booth and was immediately approached by a server who hastily asked for my order, twice in one minute. The restuarant was nearly empty and I came an hour prior to the closing, so I couldn't understand my servers need in rushing my order. The server actually sat down in my booth the third time to write the order.
My handburger came, but was so greasy that the toasted bread was completely saturated with fat and the burger was raw in the center. I took one bite and decided to forgo any attempt to eat it. I went to the counter and ask for my check. My server rang up my bill, but did not every bother to ask if something was wrong. I paid and left. I notice upon returning to my car that I left my sun visor clip on the table, so I entered the restuarant again to find my table cleared and the server came to the front to hand me my clip, again, not even asking if anything was wrong.
The manager, Dennis, was not in the establishment when I was there so I called him the next day just to report my experience. I told him who I was on the telephone only to be responded to with a rude "Who, I'm in the middle of lunch and I don't have time to talk now." He said bye and hung up. Who would think that the middle of lunch would be 11:40 in the morning???
So, skip this place..This was my third time to patronize the place and my last. With many years of restuarant management and service in earlier years on my resume, I'm would not post a negative review unless it was warrented. The food at this location does not hold up to the standard that it was intended, which would explain why there is never a wait, and the staffing needs an overhaul from the top down.
Vegetarians Beware!!!.
Being a vegetarian couple, we are always glad to find ?vegetarian friendly? restaurants. Thumbs-Up WAS one of them until this afternoon. I placed a take-out order which included a GARDEN omelet for my husband. I arrived home ready to enjoy a delicious breakfast but 2 minutes later my husband bites into a piece of HAM in the GARDEN Omelet.
Since Thumbs-Up?s web site states: ? We are not vegetarian but we are vegan- and vegetarian- friendly and we have several several [sic] vegetarian items on the menu.? I called to let them know about this mishap. I was asked if I still had the receipt and if I wanted to come back in for a new Garden Omelet. Now , I live at least 20 miles away and gas prices are still ridiculous so of course I was not about to make that drive just for a new omelet (side note: some quality restaurants would offer to refund your order but I guess not all establishments are as customer service savvy ? but I digress).
I told the gentleman on the phone that I thought they would be concerned about such an occurrence ? especially since they patronize vegetarians. He then let me know that they are not a vegetarian restaurant and all meals ARE COOKED ON THE SAME GRILL THEY COOK PORK ON. So, why would I want a new omelet? This is officially my last meal from Thumbs-Up. I normally cook at home but every now and then enjoy a break. THIS EXPERIENCE HAS INCREASED MY APPRECIATION OF COOKING AT HOME ? AT LEAST I HAVE A BETTER IDEA ABOUT WHAT MY FAMILY IS EATING.
