Funniest laughs in Atlanta.
My headline may seem far-fetched, but I am serious. I have not laughed this hard at a comedy show in Atlanta in a long time, if ever. There were about 20 sketches and the show was about 2 hours long. And I laughed almost the whole time (even at intermission when my friend and I were re-laughing at some of the lines).
It was a mix of live theater with a few pre-recorded video bits mixed in. The theater was very crowded, and now I know why. Everyone there laughed. I felt like I was at a taping for a sketch TV show. These people should be the ones on Saturday night! I even liked how they had some regional humor. It made it feel more authentic. All the actors are from Atlanta, and I think everything is written locally, too. I wish I could have bought a DVD of the show.
It's not at all like going to the Fox or a more upscale theater, but they do have refreshments like candy, Coke, water, beer and wine. The line was a little long during intermission, but we still got through it before the second act started.
If you like to laugh, you definitely need to check this place out. I can't believe I didn't hear of it before now.
Belly laughs every time!. This group presents great sketch comedy, which is a nice departure from the other comedy groups in town, who mostly do improv. It's for adults, and the writing ranges from downright bawdy to cutting-edge, intelligent humor. Topics range from relationships to politics, and more, with all views represented. There's something sure to please and offend everyone. The cast is great. Acting is professional and sure to keep you laughing non-stop. Lots of fun! More and more people are discovering just how good Sketchworks is.
