What People Are Saying About Tap 1180

Featured Review

In Short – One of Atlanta’s first “gastropubs,” TAP overlooks the bustling corner of Peachtree and 14th Street. The vibe is part office happy hour, part warm-up destination for the neighboring Alliance. One of the first foodie joints to put a twist on a classic burger, their cheeseburger served on an English muffin with shoe string fries and a mini chocolate shake is still the one item you have to get. Order up a cheap Numbers Ale (their own brew), snag a table on their patio and let the weekend (or weeknight) begin.

Editor's Tips

What to Drink:
If the weather's warm, try a Badminton Cup--a refreshing combo of Miller's gin, muddled cucumber, and mint.
Where to Sit:
Check out the prime-time people-watching on the patio, which also affords views of Midtown's gleaming skyscrapers.
When to Go:
TAP opens early at 10am, and does a full brunch menu on Sundays.

  1. While they do have a great patio (that fills up quickly, I might add) and location (though parking is scarce- park in the deck next to the Promenade II building or somewhere along Crescent), I've yet to be wowed by the service & food.
  2. While the atmosphere is nice, and the menu is ambitious sounding, the execution is totally off.
  3. stopped in to Tap the other day with a friend to grab some lunch and to check the place out and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was really great.
  4. Awesome patio, great food, and fun people watching what more could you ask for, and its all in the heart of midtown.

  7. Great decor, and their staff is very friendly.
  8. friend and I walked up to the restaurant and upon assessing the atmosphere and decor agreed that it looked like a good hang out spot.

An American gastropub done right

by Sarah Ann Soffer

An American gastropub right in our own backyard, TAP is the perfect blend of everything you’re looking for. Both a bar and a restaurant, TAP boasts great food, patio dining in a great location, live music and a penchant for airing all the great sports games of the day. Named for the restaurant’s extensive draft beer and barrel wine selections, TAP has something for everyone, and won’t break the bank either. Their libations range from the usual suspects to interesting blends, including my new favorite, sparkling wine with elderflower and a twist. From their 3 for $9 taco selection (including delicious choices of bbq pork and buttermilk chicken) to my favorite pub burger, perfectly cooked, and served with cheddar and pickles on a whole wheat English muffin, you’re sure to find something to wet your appetite. The burger also comes with a special treat, a shot of chocolate milkshake. While I do like the fries, I tend to sub it out for their beet salad which is fresh and flavorful. Bonus tip: Check-in in on FourSquare: first and fifth check-ins get a free appetizer, and the mayor gets free drinks.

  • Pros: Food, location, parking, atmosphere

Great patio, good burger

by HunterPearson

Tap was one of the first to claim "gastropub" in their concept, as the Concentrics people are always good at following trends. They were also one of the first places to feature a burger as their signature item, serving it on an English muffin. But I went back the other day and had the burger, which I hadn't had in a year or so...and I still like it.

It's small in size, but they aren't afraid to cook it med or med rare. It comes with one slice of American cheese and a few pickles. I'm not a big fan of pickles so I get it without. But the burger has great flavor, it's simple and it comes with shoestring fries and a little chocolate shake. And the muffin holds the burger just fine... its' not as good as a potato bun at Grindhouse, or one that came from H&F Bakery, but it works.

I'm glad they haven't changed it, or taken it off the menu.

  • Pros: Burger on an english muffin.
  • Cons: Parking in that 'hood sucks.

Bad service

by Lil1Atl

We went to have a lunch there on Sunday, Aug. 23. The place did not appear to be terribly busy and they had tables available in the patio area. With no hostess in sight we decided to seat ourselves. After about 5 minutes the hostess came, she asked us to leave the table and wait at the bar area. We waited for another 5-10 minutes and were shown to the table with no umbrella, in the full blazing sun. She made no apologies or asked if we liked the table, she just left. Few minutes in the hot sun, and we left this place. Can’t tell if the food is good. We are not going back, I hate to be treated like a nuisance. There are many great places to eat in Atlanta, this is not one of them.

  • Pros: great location
  • Cons: service is terrible

Bar Food

by DennisnAtlanta

The patio is the best feature of this bar (it?s a stretch to say it is a serious restaurant). The food is very mediocre. It's a place to go grab a beer after work, before going out clubbing, or just hanging out with friends. The music is usually loud inside and the multi level set up is disconcerting and makes the place feel small and cramped. It's a young crowd (under 35) and mostly straight but gay friendly. It's in midtown so it is attracts a more open minded crowd than a suburban bar/beer house.

  • Pros: Patio
  • Cons: Food

Bad Service...Much Better Choices In Atlanta

by pamulli

We went there on a Sunday evening and it wasn't all that crowded, yet the service was pretty bad. They were out of several things that we ordered, they brought one entree before the appetizers and we had to send it back and the server seemed annoyed. We had our appetizers and then 3 of the entrees arrived, but the 4th never showed (not the same one we sent back). We asked twice and were told it was on it's way, which we took for Oops we forgot. After about 15 minutes the final entree arrived. The food was OK, but there are so many better options in Atlanta. Lots of local pubs and bars have better beer and better service. I expected a lot more from a Concentrics Restaurant. I don't plan on going back.

  • Pros: Nice Atmosphere
  • Cons: Service, Beer Selection and Prices
