Saturday Serivce. I called Mechanics Heating and air on a saturday to my marietta home. i called many other companies and they couldn't come out until monday! i have a 3 month old baby and Mechanics said that somebody would be out within the next few hours. true to their word, mechanics technician Barry McGowan showed up around 3PM. my a/c is now fixed and my husband, baby and i can rest peacefully. thank you.

Ridiculously over priced...Be Careful. I called Mechanic's at 9am and they had someone promptly at my house less then 2 hours later. The lady on the phone said there was a $29.95 service call price. I was very happy so far. Once the technician arrived, I was told there was a $170 an hour diagnosis fee on top of the service call. (To be fair, they charge $85 every 30 minutes and did diagnose the problem in 30 minutes.) After 30 minutes the technician "Diagnosed" my problem and said the "Starter" was bad. I asked for more information about the "Starter". The "Starter" is actually the capacitor that is used to start the compressor.

Mechanic's wanted to charge $486.37 to replace this capacitor (on top of the diagnostic & service charge.) I informed them that I had a capacitor replaced previously by another company and the entire bill was less than $200. The technician said sorry, that was their price. I said no thank you and paid the $114.95 to diagnose.

So, what does a capacitor cost? Mine cost me (at retail) $27.95. Obviously their must be a lot of labor right? I had to remove 5 screws and 3 wires to change out the part. It took me 10 minutes to do this work (including finding the screwdriver.) Since they are professionals and already had 4 of those screws removed to do the diagnosis, I really can't see it taking them any longer then 10 minutes either. (They needed to go out to their van to find the part right?) So 10 minutes of labor cost $450?!?! Some would say this is a scam.

Stay Far Away. The big ripoff is coming if you call them, trust me. I am one of the fortunate ones having lost only $85. I had to threaten to call the police to get them out of my house after they claimed I had agreed to have some work done. Nasty people. State of Ga investigation is underway,

Beware!. DO NOT CALL these people! The service call is just the fee they charge to knock on your door and look at your air conditioner. I told them to leave after they were going to charge me $500 for freon. They even tried to make me sign this paper authorizing repairs and I read all the fine print and basically what it said was “no refunds and no warranty.” They do not even take credit cards. When I went to write the check, I was told to make it out to the technician..RED FLAG! my regular company was too busy to see me the same days, but after I was told what these people were going to charge me, I sent them packing and called COOL RAY.. When I told them my story, the tech and also told me that this company is under investigation by the state licensing board. They have an “F” with the BBB and also they have been investigated by Fox 5 Atlanta TWICE for ripping people off. They have changed their name half a dozen times. If you don’t believe me, look it up! Check the BBB too. These guys epitomize the term “rip-off”. Thanks to Cool Ray I am wise to these guys and I will never, every stray again! I learned my lesson!
