Tips for Poona Indian Restaurant

Horrible service!!! Just tonight my wife and I were on Poona's website, and we called and placed an order. Minutes later they called back and were arguing with us regarding what was on the website. Last time I checked I am not illiterate and when a combination platter indicates that the meal contains 3 items it means 3 items. The lady kept saying that it only includes 2 items. After agreeing to honor the website she had the nerve to call once more to argue some more. Please do not eat at this horribly run restaurant from people who obviously don't know how to run a business.

WORST SERVICE EVER. There are plenty of Indian restaurants in Atlanta and this is by far the WORST ONE I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. I decided to go here with my fiance for an afternoon lunch and as soon as i walked through the door, i saw the server sigh with grief. Next he handed us the menu with no respect whatsoever. He did not ask us what we wanted to drink and instead just gave us water and walked away. I was going to walk out of this restaurant right then and there but my fiance stopped me. The food was excellent but the service is beyond horrible. MOST IMPORTANTLY, WHEN ME AND MY FIANCE WERE STILL EATING, THE SERVER PUTS THE CHECK DOWN AT THE TABLE WITHOUT ME ASKING FOR IT AND THEN HAS THE NERVE TO TELL ME THAT THEY ARE ABOUT TO CLOSE FOR THE AFTERNOON AND ARE WAITING ON ME AND HER TO FINISH! HOW RUDE IS THAT?! I have never been so insulted at any restaurent in my life, when the server handed me the credit card receipt to sign, i signed a big ZERO AND LEFT. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR GOOD FRIENDLY SERVICE.

Great Experience!!. My experience has always been great at poona!. I love to sit there enjoy the great food and the music. I usually go with my family and sometimes with friends and they all love to eat there! The ambiance is great - a good fusion of Traditional Indian in vibrant red colors with a touch of modern look with the lights on the wall. Try their chicken Tikka masala and tell them to make it super spicy - its really yumm!! and their naans are excellent, like peshawari naan - filled with dry fruits (i think), or chilli naan or Garlic naan,, actually even their butter naan is delicious.

I have been there for lunch a few times with my coworkers and the food selection is great - its more than what other Indian restaurants offer and a bit cheaper too!

The wait staff is very joyous and friendly and now they even know my name.

Very surprising to know that some people didn't have a good experience, it just might not have been a good day. But I assure you that you will have a great time if you like good quality food! I highly recommend this place.

Overcharged me twice.. I enjoy great Indian food. This place really does have decent buffet food, albeit not much of a selection. What's out there, though, tastes great; however, two reasons I'll never return, even for great food. The service was pretty awful the last time I went, and I found myself having to repeat myself a number of times to ask for a cola to a server who didn't understand English. The main reason follows.

Both times I've been there, I've found that they disregard what you put on your credit card slip and overcharge an arbitrary amount. I discovered this when balancing my checkbook. I confirmed with my bank, and they overcharged. Two separate visits. The first time, I'd assumed it was a mistake, and it was only a dollar and change. The second time, however, I was furious. It doesn't matter if the amount is negligible. You cannot disregard the credit amount a customer agrees to and signs for and expect them to return.

!!!! BAD FOOD AND NO SERVICE !!!!. I WENT OUT WITH GROUP OF PEOPLE AT POONA FOR LUNCHEON. FIRST OF ALL I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GREAT RESTAURANT TO EAT INDIAN FOOD. I TRIED THEIR CHICKEN MAKHANI AND I FOUND WAS BAD TASTE, SMELL LIKE CHICKEN WAS TOO OLD. I THINK FOOD WAS LEFT OVER FROM YESTERDAY OR BEFORE AND SERVING TODAY'S BUFFET. THE CURRY CHICKEN AND GOAT CURRY HAD NO AROMA. I THINK THE GOAT WAS COOKED MANY TIMES AND HAS NO TASTE AT ALL. THE RESTAURANT LOOK GREAT BUT FOOD IS HOROBLE. I THINK THE LADY JUST OVER COOKED SOME TANDOORI CHICKEN AND BROUGHT TO OUR TABLE . I THINK SHE NEED SOME DEODORANT BEFOR SHE COME TO THE DINING ROOM. SERVICE WAS NOT SO GOOD, BUT NAN BREAD WAS EXCELENT.

Tasty yet small buffet. My wife and I enjoyed the buffet at Poona. Our only complaint was the number of options on the buffet. Everything that I tasted was delicious especially the Tandori chicken and the naan. I would recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood for Indian or if you are trying Indian food for the first time.

Excellent food and great service.... I have tried many different indian resturant in atlanta area but the food here is the best value for the price.I have been there many times and few times I asked them to alter some of the ingredients and they said no problem without hesitation. Resturant is very cleans and staff is very friendly. Be prepared to smell that strong indian curry smell when you walk in the resturant... Try their veggie pakoras or cheese samosas in the appetizers section.
