“The decor is great.”
“Also although friends had advised that the restaurant is expensive, I did not feel the price for two dinners, dessert and a bottle of champagne was exorbitant.”
“The waiter/bartender was very attentive throughout the meal and we enjoyed the liveliness of the bar.”
“The food is brought out sporatically, we had to request a wine cooler for our nice bottle of white wine, had to request utensils after our first set was taken away after the appetizers, wrong sauces on the steaks, etc.”
“The side dishes-- scalloped sweet potatoes and zuchinni picatta were delicious but next time I will look for a healthier veggie option (if there is one to be found on the menu!)”
“good place to try, but next time I'll see you at Bones.”
“think i will go back one more time and try the "dry aged porterhouse" ?”
“Awesome steak, great building and decor, superb service all around”
“If you want a great steak and service worth $20-40/person.”
“That said, once I joined my party, it took me a good 10 minutes (and one large glass of wine) to truly exhale and begin to enjoy the experience fully.”
Great atmosphere, service and an amazing double porter house and cowboy cut ribeye. They also have a lot of non traditional steakhouse sides like baked escargot and Asian meatballs!
Delightful and Delicious.
This was absolutely amazing! Loved everything about it. Food, service, dining room was beautiful. Very welcoming and food was amazing.
Keep doing what you're doing! I had the veal chop oscar and it was perfectly cooked and amazing tasting. I want more!! My husband had the filet and of course, amazing as well. Can't wait to go back to try other options.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone I talk to. My husband and I are going to make this our date night spot, out of town guest spot, business dinner spot, special occasion spot...
Expected More, but still a nice night out.
I had heard great things about this steakhouse. The ambiance and energy when you walk in is great, just what you would expect from a nice steakhouse.
The Filet Mignon was just ok. Nothing really wrong with it, but not a lot of flavor to it either. The jalapeno creamed corn was pretty good though. Creme Brulee was huge.
It was a lovely evening out, but doesn't hold up to the normal steak house expectation.
kevin Rathbun's Steakhouse. Best steak in Atlanta. I had the cowboy ribye. I always order medium rare but the waiter suggested with the tenderness of this steak medium was best. I went along with advIce. PERFECT steak and veggies. Best meal I've had n ATL!!!
Top Notch Chef Nails Upscale Steakhouse. Located a chip-shot away from badass Chef Kevin Rathbun's flagship namesake restaurant, Kevin Rathbun Steak is his foray into the steakhouse world located on Krog Street in the Old Forth Ward. Thick bone-in ribeyes, filets and T-bones for two are enjoyed with a carnivore's devilish smile under the very dimly lit lights of this beautiful rustic-meets-elegance space. Down-home sides paired with primo red meat and a big fat red wine? Good. Go.
Fine, but there are better high end steak places.
I got a steak and my wife got the lobster. I really liked the steak, but the steak sauce was an additional charge which i felt was nickle and diming me (the steak sauce was good though). My wife liked the lobster, and it was a good portion, but she didnt rave about it. We had onion rings for an appetizer which were very mediocre. The mash potatoes were good, and the cream corn was average.
The inside itself is a very cool atmosphere, but it is EXTREMELY dark. I would recommend figureing out what to order beforehand, and it is so dark it was difficult to read the menu.
The price was on par with typical high end steak houses, and the food was god, just nothing special lie you could get for a similar price at Bones, Mortons, etc. etc.
Good steak.
Steak, pure and simple, done right
Please work on the sides and please bring back that wonderful lemon scallop appetizer. I know it was a special, but it is so good and add it everyday or at least twice a week
Ala carte gets a little too pricey, so try and work on those prices, so I can come more often
good food, thanks
Great steak, but pricey. We selected the aged steak for 2, which was not really for two. Shared two sides which are separate from the 65.00 steak for two. Ticket was 110.00 . Not really worth the price, but definitely an experience to try.
Extremely disappointed.
I was excited to receive a $100 gift certificate to Rathbun Steak. My husband and I went early on a Monday evening, ready for a wonderful experience. We were SORELY dissapointed, especially since I had heard such good reviews.
Not only was it rediculously DARK, it was very loud, so much so that my husband and I had trouble hearing each other, sittling right next to one another,
and the restaurant was only about 1/4 occupancy.
I work in the design rhelm, and I find it outrageous that someone thinks it is cool to design interiors that do not suit the intended purpose. If the servers need flashlights for the patrons to see the menu, IT IS TOO DARK! GET REALl!!!!! Form follows function.
We ordered a potato soup for a starter - SALTY
Steaks -- Rib eye and NY strip - SALTY (Mine had large pieces of salt on the steak)
Creamed spinach - so salty we could'nt eat it
Bread - SALTY
It is a shame when the only seasoning option used in this professional chef's kitchen, seems to be salt and LOTS of it.
The server, at my request, did take the spinach off of the bill, but it was still $82 dollars. Although I don't mind spending that kind of money and more, on a GOOD meal, this is not a restaurant that I will ever give a second chance.
We rushed through eating, as the ambiance was poor, it was loud, and the highly salted food left much to be desired.
By the way, I rushed home to drink several HUGE glasses of water! LOL
You have to try it. We found a table in the bar, ordered a bottle of champagne and split the steak for 2. The steak was incredibly tender and juicy and we enjoyed a few dipping sauces-- the blue cheese butter sauce was decadent and tasty. The side dishes-- scalloped sweet potatoes and zuchinni picatta were delicious but next time I will look for a healthier veggie option (if there is one to be found on the menu!) Due to the batter, the zuchinni tasted surprisingly like french toast, which actually wasn't a bad thing. We finished the meal with a toffee brownie sundae. Simple, homey and good. The waiter/bartender was very attentive throughout the meal and we enjoyed the liveliness of the bar. Kevin Rathbun seemed approachable as he spent some time during our visit greeting guests. Also although friends had advised that the restaurant is expensive, I did not feel the price for two dinners, dessert and a bottle of champagne was exorbitant.
Caveat - Great Food, Needs Better Organization. We went to Rathbun's Steak for a Saturday night, having made our 8:15 reservation the previous Tuesday. Upon arriving, the hostess told us we were one of many groups with reservations waiting for a table. Upon encouraging our party to crowd the bar, which was standing-room-only and full of reserved parties waiting for their tables, we waited till 9:15. The food was great, just like any top-quality American steakhouse, but with the variety of phenomenal restaurants in Atlanta, it doesn't make sense that this place should be making anyone wait who had reservation well in advance. I doubt Kevin Rathbun would have approved of the overcrowded bar that awaited seating, which just goes to show that the management needs to reevaluate their policies. The manager personally apologized, but had to censor the language of his hostesses, who made comments like "well, plenty of parties are waiting for their reservations" and "I don't know how long the wait for your table will be." I think we could all agree that the host/hostess should be honest, straightforward, and, most of all, positive with the clientele. To end on a positive note, the food was, again, incredible.
