Editorial Review for Kevin Rathbun Steak LLC – by Florence Byrd
The Scene
Steeped in history, the sweeping dining room takes its cues from its surroundings. An intricate stacked-wood wall echoes railroad ties (the Beltline railway runs past the building). Rough brick contrasts with crisp white linens. The giant chandelier overhanging the dining room resembles a leafless tree festooned with Christmas lights. It's elegant but offbeat, enhanced by unexpected earthy touches. Every table is filled most nights, with Ansley Park matrons dining alongside Castleberry Hill hipsters. Everyone you know is eating at Kevin Rathbun Steak - and loving it.
The Food
Red meat takes center stage on this classic steakhouse menu. Steaks are from Allen Brothers of Chicago, and to a one they're perfection. If you can stomach the $45 pricetag, the 22-ounce bone-in ribeye may just be the best steak you've ever tasted. Ribeye makes another fine showing in a carpaccio appetizer; buttery ribbons of steak spring to life with a forkful of peppery arugula. Don't forget home-style sides like cauliflower gratin and fried okra. Seafood dishes, such as a whole bronzini basted in garlic butter, don't disappoint either.

Went the Rathbun Steak to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversay. Have read about mediocre service but our server was very attentive without being obtrusive. The steak was terrific! Not sure how they get the outside so crispy while leaving the inside so rare but it was awesome! Draft Beer is $6 per pint so that's my only ding. Great job!

Had dinner on Saturday evening at this Atlanta staple and from the two comments below, it sounds like they were in different restaurants or mad because they could not get a reservation. Our reservation was at 8:30 and there was only a 10 minute wait for our table, but I did not see anybody waiting over an hour and we made the reservation at the correct restaurant by calling the right restaurant. (I think the reviewer below called the wrong restaurant and you have to get this one right!) Our service by Rick was great, and he was professional and steered us in the right direction. Awesome steaks and the truffle butter was perfect for the steak only dip the steak in the sauce and savor it. The macaroni and cheese was wonderful and the chocolate bomb dessert and the banana dessert were off the charts. My partner and I will be back. This restaurant is a must anytime you are visiting Atlanta.
Pros: great steaks and service
Cons: none to mention
