“The atmosphere is amazing, its so open.”
“We only had tea and the baklava, and the tea is very good, not at all bitter or under brewed which is kind of difficult for persian tea.”
“The food was awful.”
“New experience at a great restaurant”
“The biggest plus that I found with this restaurant was that if you want to enjoy the atmosphere, the absolute warm hospitality of the staff, enjoy the belly dancers or just smoke a hookah and drink couple cups of tea, you can do that and you don?”
“Watch out for over priced Medditrian Restaurants, i have heard this from alot of ppl that go to these Hookah Bars and order little plates of food and drinks and the bill comes in at over $600 dollars.”
HORRIBLE!!!! RUN AWAY!!!. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Food is an embarrassment to Persian food (go to Mirage - they rock). I GOT SICK from the tadig (crispy rice) because it was old and had been sitting in oil. Service is TERRIBLE! Servers have no clue what they're doing and mess orders up all the time. It takes an average of ONE HOUR to get your food. Been there several times only because they have flamenco shows. It took 15 minutes to bring a beer (that was still in the bottle). Prices are obscene compared to the quality of the food. Owner is rude and arrogant. I was charged for $17 worth of food I didn't order. Bathrooms are disgusting. THIS PLACE SUCKS. Don't waste your money and time.
Worst Service Not enough food
Best restaurant in the world!!!. I am now a regular here and I absolutely LOVE this place. Any new dates I have or nights out with friends I always try to come here. We have the most amazing server named demetrius (ALWAYS ask for him). Seriously because I only have a great time when hes my server. We get a hookah that tastes amazing (try their grape) and their food is to die for! It is totally worth the money for the good time + atmosphere!!
No integrity. We heard great things about this place and decided to book it for our son's bday party. Long story short, we paid a lot of money to have full use of the restaurant all afternoon but the owner/manager refused to honor the agreement and kept allowing people to come in off the street to eat. I had to continuously ask people to leave because it was a private party. To make it worse, no matter how much I complained, the owner/manager didn't care and at one point told me flat out that he was the owner and that he would do what he wanted to do. I was so furious that I can't even tell you if the food was any good because I lost my appetite. Totally disgusted with the way they did business.
A place to be for great food, fun and music. The evening turned out to be more fun than me and my family expected. We were in heaven with the food, the meats so tender, and I must say the wine was exceptional at a very reasonable cost. Then came the music! It was infectious! We all danced and didn't want to stop. There is a belly dancer that is fonamenal. We ended up staying longer than we had thought we would. Our waitress was awsome! This is the funnest place we have been in a long time. For a true mid east experience you will love it!!!
An Excellent Atlanta Tea House.
I really enjoy going to Fanoos with my friends. We actually bring 8-9 people from our neighbourhood for just about any occasion. I've been going there for about 2years or so… and always go there for holidays…
You cant go wrong with the Polo/pullao dishes (rice dishes) and the fish is very good. While we do like Persepolis my friends insist on going to Fanoos because we can relax there...we are certainly regulars. I've already been twice this week making it a total of 4-5 times this month. I'd probably go everyday because its very comfortable and the food, again, is very good...
I love the fact that mgmt is open to posting all of the Iranian Show events in the window so we know who is coming to town. If you’re looking for a place to go and just enjoy being with your friends over tea and some great mezza then Fanoos is certainly ideal...
Saturday nights are extremely busy and the wait staff has to make a great effort to get to every table. If you’re going for a show its perhaps better to arrive as early as possible and get your orders in. The kitchen staff take their time with each plate to make sure its just what you ordered so being patient is necessary when they’ve got over 40 tables to serve.
Suggestions: call in advance if you know you’re a larger party… Understand that Saturdays are very very busy
Go during the week for lunch!! If they don’t have what you want from the buffet then order off the menu…
And if you’re not accustomed to Persian cuisine, read about it first then go there and try it. I think its awful when people don’t do research before trying a new cuisine and then dismiss it…
Overall, it’s a really big spacious place. Biggest one in the SouthEast! Can hold an entire wedding party and its great for birthdays and special occasions!
I was visiting this restaurant last Saturday with my friends. It was not the first time we were there and for sure not the last! It's a great restaurant with delicious food!!!! And actually its not the only place where you can eat, they got a great dancing place where everybody dance with their beautiful belly-dancer.
Service was great! our nice waiter didnt mind to make 10 separate checks and I could tell, that not every restaurant will accept it. We are really appreciate it. I would recommend this restaurant to everybody! Thanks for great time!!
Dreadful, simply dreadful. I was lured into Fanoo's by a bellydance event benefiting the Atlanta Food Bank. I would have been better off going to the food bank itself for dinner. It was 45 minutes from the time we were seated until the waitress finally managed to wander by with a pitcher of water and menues. It was another 20 minutes after that when we finally managed to flag her down again and actually place our orders. We weren't surprised that the meal itself took another 40 minutes to begin arriving. I say begin arriving because my dates food was never served, apparently disappearing somewhere between the kitchen and the table. Of course flagging down our server again took another 20 minutes by that time we simply asked them to box the forgotten meal to go and left. No attempt was made to apologize for the missing meal which we were charged full price for. The other food was unexceptional at best. The hummus was a grey watery flavorless soup, the lamb was terribly overcooked. I won't return. There are too many good Persian restaurants in the area with good customer service to waste time & money here.
Terrible Experience, Terrible Restuarant - Avoid it !. We went to Fanoos last night for the Persian New Year. What a horrible and humilating experience. At the insistance of a friend, we decided to attend Fanoos's Celebration. We had gone to Fanoos before and our experience had been terrible. Their food had been poorly prepared, they had been used food from the afternoon launch, the waitresses specially a blond one had been extremely rude, the music was loud and upsetting and finally their bathrooms had been dirty. My friend insisted that they have changed that I should attend the celebration. So I took off from work and took my wife there. We got there and were told that they were full! We said fine, we ll just go some place else. My wife thought that it would be only polite if she would let our friends know that we were going some place else. Therefore, she walked toward our friends' table to say goodbye, Only to have her hand yanked by their security gaurd. Mr. Jalal does not understand this is not ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN. You cannot ASSAULT PEOPLE SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY WANT TO WALK OVER TO A TABLE! THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. We walked away, with my wife's and my nerves rattled by their savage behaviour. I wanted to file a complaint with the Sandy Spring's Police Department but my wife thought that it was not worth it. I have nothing against the security guard as she was following the order of management. I put up with their terrible service of waiting for half hour just to have to your order taken, I put up with their terrible tasting food and I put up with their rude waitresses but i cannot put up with their assault against my wife and their savage behaviour.
Improved but still not up to par.
I went there when it initially opened and found it lacking. I heard they improved and so I decided to go with a friend as we had a coupon. Lunch buffet was 11.95 which is almost what Persepolis charges and more than Sultan's. While the food was OK, this is easily the worst Persian food I ever had and this is bad because Roswell Road has a 3 other top class Persian restaurants within a mile of this restaurant(Rumi's, Mirage, Persepolis). Not to mention, the numerous middle eastern/Lebanese/Turkish places within 5 miles.
Food quality at the buffet: The worst stuffed grape leaves I ever had. They were too sweet and tasted like it consisted of sugar and sand. Lamb Shank was OK. Chicken Kabob was OK but bland. Beef kabab strips were as tasty as the ones in Persepolis though it comes very buttery to give it taste. The bread was served hot and fresh and wasn't bad, but the bread is once again not as tasty as the bread in the other 3 Persian places. And this is inexcusable. THE RICE WAS MEDIOCRE. THe other Persian places have very good quality rice.
SERVICE: Lamb Shank tray was empty for most of my lunch. I finally got a piece towards the end of my lunch. The waitresses were attentive and seemed to be more polite and warmer than the waiters at Rumi's Kitchen.
This place is just too expensive for the quality of food they serve. The food lacks refinement. If they priced it 8-9 bucks for the buffet, I might consider going there as a cheap alternative in between my visits to the better Persian places.
People who praise this place with 4 stars need to visit other Persian places to get a good idea what quality Persian food can taste like.
