Good Start-But Beginning to Crash and Burn
by stjoyce77 at Citysearch
We've eaten at Thumbs Up about 7 times in the past few months. Although there is always a 20-30 minute wait on the weekends, we've always felt it was worth the time outside baking in the hot sun. Good breakfast favorites (The Heap, yuuummmm) and fast service always made it a good "go to" choice when entertaining guests. We went back today and received poor service from the onset. Somehow our name was passed on the waiting list and when I went up to inquire why 2 couples were called after me I was told "I'm getting to you in a minute"-no apology. I received a biscuit with a hair clearly baked in to it-no apology. My fruit salad was gelatinous mess that had clearly been refridgerated and thawed several times. I returned it and asked that it be taken off my bill-no apology and no offer of something that could be substituted. Here's hoping Thumbs Up gets back on track-we'd hate for this restaurant to crash and burn so quickly.
- Pros: Good diner food, always clean, nice atmosphere.
- Cons: Poor service, always a 20-30 minute wait with not enough indoor seating.
