Amazing and less expensive than the flashy neon place. After moving to the area we saw that there are two hibachi style resturants near us. We tried the "Big Flashy Neon" place first and basically had to take out a loan to pay for dinner for two. Then we tried Osaka! With much more resonable prices AND better food this is the only place we will go from now on. We were there last night and even though there was a wait (typical at any resturant on a Friday night) we were more than happy to stand. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere is better than anything I'd expect in the area, and the food was even better than I remembered it. Our table was full of regulars and we had so much fun with our chef. My kids asked if we could eat there every day from now on...pretty good review coming from my picky kids!

Almost disdain for the customer. I love Japanese restaurants. If ever given the choice, I will pick Japanses every time. I have been to Osaka twice now; my first experience was "normal" with nothing excellent but nothing to complain about. Recently, my friends and I decided to go for a late lunch. We arrived 45 minutes before they close to prepare for dinner (or whatever they do for those few hours) and the waitress was incredibly rude. I would have almost preferred her to turn us away. They clearly decided to rush us out, even though 45 minutes is plenty of time for a hibachi meal at lunch time (no appetizers)--especially since we were the only people there. The chef was very funny and nice, but the waitress came to the table more frequently than needed just to have an opportunity to be rude. We were in and out of there in 25 minutes flat, well before their posted closing time, but not long enough to enjoy our lunch at all. I am giving Osaka a three because the food really is good and the chef did a great job even though he was clearly going faster than he should have. We are returning tonight because it is the only Japanese restaurant for miles around and I can only hope that we have a better experience on a Wednesday night.

Avoid on Friday and Saturday nights, really bad environment and customer service. I just love all the aspects of the japanese steak house, the mushroom soup, the ginger salad, the sushi, the tea service, the hibachi entrees, and have never had a bad experience until Osaka.

I had a reservation, which isn't really a requirement in this establishment, and was first seated in the middle of two presentation tables. There really wasn't any elbow room at all and from the seats presented, we were unable to see the hibachi presentation, which is part of the experience, so we asked to move.

I was treated very rudely when I asked, then was placed at another table, where menus were flug on the table. After my ordering and having a drink and some sushi, already having the soup and salad, which you could tell had been prepared ahead of time, awaiting the chef. I left to go to the powder room. Upon my return, there was actually someone seated in my chair. After the discovery they actually squeezed in a chair and another place seating. The new customers where actully seated at our hibachi grill and sat through our presentation, unable to even see their own. As soon as the chef was finished with the food prep and cleaning, the wait staff passed out bills and to go boxes. No desert was offered, no tea service, no after dinner coffee or conversation. They move you in and move you out and be damn at your personal comfort level.

I will not be going back to Osaka.
