Great sushi! – My husband and I have been going to Thai Diner for almost five years. We LOVE it! In fact, my surprise, 40th b-day bash was celebrated there last year and all the guests loved it. They were very accomodating to our celebration and, as always, service was great.
I've had sushi at several metro-Atlanta locations and this is top on my list. The candy roll is so yummy that we order it for "dessert". It's a cooked roll so even non-sushi eaters can enjoy it. :-)
The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that they need to refresh the decor, especially the bathroom. Otherwise, this is still one of my fav spots.
A poor last and final visit. – My wife and I have been going here for several years. We have always enjoyed the food and my wife was introduced to sushi here because of the great unusual flavors of the sauces they once used.
Sad to say, but the last visit was not a good one.
It seems there is a new staff there, including new sushi chef. Like it was said in the last comment, the service was fair and they only attended us when there was a problem. My sushi order was half the serving for the same thing I've ordered so many times in the past. We paid full price for my skimpy sushi portion, and half price for my wife's portion which had a single bad piece of sushi tuna in her order. While it was only a small part that was bad, I'm glad my wife did not get sick. I was very suprised the manager seemed annoyed at us for suggesting a price reduction because of it! When it comes to sushi grade fish, there is no excuse for poor quality!
I would hate for this place to go downhill, but I'm not sure we can return. We weren't happy with this visit at all.
Excellent Thai Food! – I had been craving some great Asian food and Thai Diner & Sushi was just the place. The atmosphere is nice and the service is just average. But the food was some of the best Thai food I have ever had. I have been to Thailand and had Thai food in other Asian countries and this is right at the top and now one of my favorite restaurants. I can't wait to go back and try some other dishes. The only down side we found was that the service was not as quick or attentive as we would expect. The prices are good and they have a nice sushi menu. The sushi I got before my meal was fresh and tasted great.
Great food, ambiance & service – I have been going to this restaurant ever since it opened at Discovery Mills. My favorite dish is Mango Tango, with large shrimp, mango chunks, mixed with other Thai vegetables. If you don't like spicy food, be sure to tell them not to put in the jalapeño peppers that are often hidden. It will change your religion if you bite down on one unexpectedly!!! The Nam Sod is excellent, as is the Pad Thai, Coconut Soup, and Crispy Cheese Rolls. A stand-out dish is the Spicy Spaghetti, a dish that is not always on the menu but is always available if ordered. But the surprise for me was the nice little Sushi Bar, which blends both the Thai culture with the Japanese. There are times that I enjou sitting at the bar as opposed to sitting a table or booth. I'm not a sushi person, although just about every member of my family and friends are. I tried it once many years ago in the Japan Town section of San Francisco in a little restaurant where no one spoke English. It was cute but not something that I would do again. But, at Thai Diner, the Sushi chef recommended K-Dream, a COOKED form of sushi with salmon, cream cheese, and rice. EXCELLENT!! All of the portions at this restaurant are more than adequate. The ambience is great with smooth jazz playing in the background. If you enter via the parking lot, you would never know that you were in a large shopping mall. The decor is tasteful with Oriental furnishings and artifacts. After your meal is finished, you have the rare choice to either return to your car or do a little "eye-buying" at the attached mall!!!
