Gotta love it!. AJ's is like a restaurant from a great TV show: good characters, people know you on a first-name basis, the waitstaff are always the same friendly people, the buzz of conversation is always pleasant, and customers love being there.

The decor is reminiscent of a Gulf coast mom & pop restaurant commonly seen off the side of a country road in the Deep South. Jimmy Buffet and Cajun zydeco music sets the mood, and four TVs, particularly during football season, fill the room with buzz and excitement. Walls are adorned with eye-catching signs, knick-knacks and cleverly-placed tin-roofing nodding to the feel of a baithouse.

The food and service is wonderful. I'm a big fan of the oysters on the half shell, the fried oyster sandwich, chicken gumbo, gator chili, gator taco, and jambalaya with that crusty French bread! No pushy waitstaff, just pleasant and courteous.

If you have an out-of-town guest, particularly from another region of the country, take them here for a taste and feel for authentic Gulf Coast cuisine! Andy, the owner, knows how to throw a great party for sure! Go around Mardi Gras time. Also, try a low-country boil party. Excellent food and good times!

Nawlin's chow is more authentic than it's surroundings.. Stepping inside AJ’s, located in a strip shopping store front, one gets the impression of a Louisiana bait shack that Walt Disney designers might have created. Perhaps not endearing to in-town gourmands, the joint is certainly family friendly. Delicious po-boys are served on highly palate-pleasing bread, and come in tons of varieties. The fried oyster and crawfish nuggets are a bit tough to chew through the batter, but the Cajun turkey, roast beef, and catfish deliver intense flavor, delightfully soaking the bread in the process. Spicy gumbo is served in a spot-on dark brown roux, the slow-cook process perfectly tenderizing the chicken and sausage. Keeping with the Lousian’ theme, gator tacos and Abita beer make for tempting additions to the meal.

Great place, great po-boys, great staff. I absolutely love this place. The dining area is small, but it's very quaint. There is additional seating on the patio which is nice for the warmer weather. I love to meet friends there for an after-work drink during the week and sit out on the patio. Occationally they have a local singer/songwriter come out with her guitar and play (she's very good). There is always a big crowd there for their anniversarys and for Fat Tuesday (they are a Cajun place!) The Po-Boys are awesome and their special 'Ajs sauce' is highly recommended. The staff is wonderfall, the service is great, the food is very well priced. I cannot say enough good things about it.

Amazing PoBoys. There are only good things that you can say about AJ's! The food is amazing and there is something to eat for everyone. The owners and staff make you feel like you are part of the family and make sure to always see how your visit has been. You must join them for one of their crawfish boils and stop by for their next anniversary party. Guaranteed, Andy and Tony know how to throw a party!
