I stopped by Icon to get the mess on top of my head taken care of once and for all. Once I stepped inside, it was like I was transported to one of those places you only read about or see on television. The layout of the salon itself was very eye catching and comfortable. I wasn't bored at all while sitting on the fantastic furniture and watching the huge plasma tv that is one of the main focal points of the salon. The selection of movies that were available to watch while you wait blew my mind! The movies along with the XBOX 360 and wireless headphones are great for on-the-go mothers and stylish fathers who can't leave their kids at home. Icon is the kind of place your kids would beg to be taken to, but with the flair and hipness of a trendy spot you'd want to meet your friends at. The design and extra touches also add to the experience. The sculptures that are on display are both out of this world and eyecatching. However, at the heart of the salon are stylists that are a cut above the competition (pun intended). The professionalism, courtesy and attention to detail really shine through. Like I said earlier, I just stopped by to get my hair under control. After years of seeing the same old hairdresser in my home town, I needed something different. I found what I was looking for at Icon Salon. Glen, the stylist who helped me, did better than I could have ever imagined. He worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to re-create his final masterpiece, but he walked me through it every step of the way. Also, I usually get bored and fed up with hairdresser conversation but I felt like I was talking with a best friend that I hadn't seen in years. Overall, the experience I had at Icon Salon was a real eyeopener. I don't think I'll be able to go to another run of the mill beauty shop ever again. From the atmosphere to the stylists to the affordability everything was perfect. I highly recommend Icon Salon.

I found Icon Salon via Citysearch about 8 months ago, and my experiences have lived up to all the other rave reviews on the site. I have to admit, I'm very high-maintenance with it comes to my hair, and have been to several salons and stylists before finding this gem. My stylist, Glen, is an artist with hair; he's ABSOLUTELY GENIUS with color and "sculpts" hair beautifully. He's so thoughtful and thorough, and truly considers the placement of every piece of hair with both cut and color. I've colored my hair with Glen at Icon twice (once after a year of coloring out of the box -- yes, I know -- because of a horrible experience I had at another salon), and each time was truly brilliant. I've been trying to achieve natural-looking, multi-textured highlights in my dark hair since I was 16, and I was MOVED by how PERFECT my hair color turned out. Not only is the color fabulous, but the cut (my latest style is much shorter and daring) is exactly what I was looking for, and Glen took into consideration my face shape, hair texture and facial features! He says, "Cutting hair is like sculpting," and the proof is in the pudding. My boyfriend gets his hair cut with Glen as well, and the results are just as stunning. Every detail, every suggestion is thoughtfully and meticulously incorporated into the cut. And of course, there's the ATMOSPHERE ... friendly people, positive vibe, fun and interesting art. And, not to mention, the TOYS... giant TV, XBOX, laptop ... I was at the salon for 3 hours, and my easily bored boyfriend found plenty to stay occupied -- yes, at a salon! If you're lacking a truly moving experience at your current salon, I would highly recommend making an appointment at Icon Salon.
