Editorial Review for Duck's Cosmic Kitchen – by Emily Horton

In Short
Don't be fooled by the teeny kitchen, or the unassuming outdoor seating that boasts a church pew as a communal bench. Duck's menu is a powerhouse of well-conceived flavors. Silky, house-cured lox snuggles in a baguette with avocado, arugula and capers. A prosciutto-emmenthaler sandwich smeared with fig jam is a classier version of grilled cheese. The panzanella pizza is piled high with a summery salad of chopped tomato, grilled chicken and peppery arugula.

Know Before You Go

Duck's cinnamon-sugar-crusted donuts, moist, cakey rounds with a perfect light crumb, are an absolute must for eat-in or takeout, even if you don't get around to them until breakfast the next day.

When to Go

Weekend evenings, be on the lookout for bistro-style small plates the kitchen offers in addition to the daily menu.

The Extras

Whole loaves of the aromatic breads baked in house are available with advanced notice.

Duck's food is amazing. The ingredients are fresh. The food is simple but has brilliant touches that take it over the top. I have had everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. The service is always great too! This restaurant should be on every cheap eats list because the value is amazing. You will not get better food for less money anywhere.

Pros: everything

Cons: nothing

These folks get that it is all about the food! The facilities are nothing fancy for sure, but all the frills in the world wouldn't help if the product weren't high quality. I have tried several items on their menu and they consistantly deliver where it matters most.

Pros: Excellent grub
