Worst dessert ever. The cakes are so dry and mealy! I cannot believe that Atlanta has no better bakeries than this place! For shame!

The last time i was in here and saw them drop a block of what looked like butter on the floor and pick it up and add it back to the mix of whatever they were trying to make.

Simply Disgusting! When they saw that I had seen what happened, they just said this was for "testing" and not a real batch. Yeah right!

NEVER AGAIN!

Horrible, horrible cake...rude staff. The staff here has always been stuck up. I am not sure why they think they are so great...

I've had their cupcakes and other desserts a couple of times. The first time it was okay, nothing spectacular. However, it got worse and worse everytime I went back. The final time was due to rock hard, dry cupcakes. The chocolate and red velvet were both horrible! I hear they have since stopped doing anything but custom cakes, probably so people can't come in and buy a cupcake and realize how awful they are, and they can just be rude to people and rip them off.

I wish you luck if you try them....

Never Again. I completely agree with JJP's Review. I bought 3 different cupcakes today in anticipation of a Baby Shower cake I was planning to order next month (1 - Banana carmel, Yellow w/chocolate BC, and Chocolate w/white BC). 2 out of 3 of the cupcakes where extremely dry and hard as rocks.

I asked the bakery attendent if the cupcake were fresh, and he confirmed they were made the night before. I questioned how they could have been baked the night before, and be so hard. he preceeded to advise me to "pop it into the microwave and that will soften it right up" Who goes to a bakery only to receive a stale product that must be microwaved.

I have not been able to reach the owner Matt, so resoultion is still pending. Not planning on going back any time soon...oops at all!!

Horrible Cupcake (really, really bad!). I went in to Matty Cakes with high hopes of obtaining an excellent cupcake. Afterall, they have a nice looking sign and the inside looks like a well-run bakery. I ended up ordering a yellow cupcake with white butter cream frosting. I took a first bite and was surprised by the hard/spongy texture of the cake. Surely, there must be something wrong here since cupcakes are supposed to be light and fluffy. Wow... easily the worst dry and stale cupcake I've ever had. And... it was about $3.50 with tax (what a ripoff). Matty Cakes -- you may want to seriously think about removing cupcakes from your offering unless you can guarantee you aren't selling people week-old baked goods. Wow, that was a REALLY, REALLY terrible cupcake.

Everything is perfect. Matty Cakes definitely knows what they are doing. A bakery should be better than what you get at home or at the grocery store... and they are. The cupcakes are melt-in-your-mouth as well as the cookies.

The selections are smaller, but superb, and yes, I've noticed the staff is a little short and extremely busy.

What a HUGE Disappointment. I went to Maty Cakes for a birthday cake...and what resulted for over 100.00 was shoddy at best. I was told the cake would be fondant..it was not. The quality of the icing was below publix! The ribbon (this was supposed to resemble a present) was left over from chrsitmas and there were drops of hot glue all over the cake and the ribbon. The worst part was that the text was half on the ribbon half on the cake and it lifted therefore the text was disturbed and illegible. When I called to complain Matt basically was unapologetic . they are no Ace of Cakes!

Poor customer service. I don't know about the cakes, but the customer service is very poor. I talked to them on the phone about a cake I would need in 72 hours. I made it clear that I was flexible and did not have specific requirements. They just answered "we can't do it. not enough time. bye." I was floored. No apology, no information like "we need one week notice", no offer that maybe they could do something else. If this is how they treat their potential customers, I would stay away.

Nasty Attitude. When I got there, I noticed that this place did not look any way inviting and that should have let me know something. I bought a red velvet cupcake. The frosting is pretty much plain solid cream cheese. The cupcake is reddish orange with a bit of an aftertaste. The bottom of the cupcake was wet. The middle was weird and strayed far from a traditional red velvet cake. The cashier refused to hand my debit card back and instead placed it and my receipts on the counter. When I refused to pick up the receipts, she got smart and told me that they were mine. I will never visit them again and certainly would not recommend them to anyone else.

Outrageously Beautiful Cakes (and tasty too). Matty Cakes made the most fantastic and outrageous cake for my husband’s surprise 40th birthday. This was the only bakery in town that would even consider making the cake I wanted and not only was it visually stunning and the talk of the party, but it tasted divine. Everyone was super friendly and Matt had some great ideas. I was so glad I found out about Matty Cakes, it's a hidden gem (but not for long I bet). If you want something extra special, you won’t be disappointed. Thanks Matt!

Matty's is a HUGE disappointment. This is the worst bakery in Atlanta!!!! I ordered a birthday cake a week in advance-and when I arrived to pick it up it was not even started. No one seemed bothered by this, not even the owner. They offered me day-old cupcakes instead!!!!! Finally, they ended up frosting another cake (not the flavor I ordered!) for over an hour, while I waited!!!! No one apologized! The worst customer service ever! In the end, the cake tasted horrible! Don't waste your time on this place.
