The Scene – The latest sibling to the Hand in Hand and Prince of Wales bloc is its largest and shiniest player yet. Veering away from the garden-variety ye olde English pub formula, this newcomer has taken up residence in a century-old fire station, scrupulously redone in gleaming mahogany with brass accents. Although there aren't any poles to slide down on, the main level offers abundant seating and several flat-screen TVs to ogle while noshing on fish-and-chips. – – The Draw – Fox Theatre-goers will appreciate the pub's proximity for pre-show drinks, as well the…
DON'T order Bailey's & coffee here... EVER. And, terrible service!!!
by lindseyrprice
I went for the St. Patty's celebration and got there early with a bunch of friends around noon on a Saturday. Our server, who was at least friendly, never got our drinks correct and in some cases altogether forgot drink orders. We were his only table, and the place was far from packed. Spotted Dog had a set menu of 4 item choices; I happened to be with 2 vegetarians who asked for just a grilled cheese instead of the corned beef sandwich option. Absolutely no substitutions, we were told. Later, we saw someone with a burger, which had NOT been on the menu. We stayed from noon until 3pm and the place still remained empty. When it was time to the pay the bill, the coffee and Bailey's that I ordered was a total of $8!!!!! $6.50 for a Bailey's shot plus $1.25 for the coffee. WHAT?! We live in Atlanta. I've never heard of that much for a Waffle House-sized portion of terrible coffee and a dash of Bailey's. We told the server that he should mention that price before serving it to us. He didn't do anything about the bill despite acknowledging that it was a ridiculous amount for a shot. We even called the Manager over who was less than helpful and borderline rude. He offered us complimentary shots, but we were already on the way out; as soon as we declined, he high-tailed it, leaving our inept server standing there.
Needless to say, I won't be coming back. It's too bad - the venue itself is gorgeous. But its management needs to be replaced.
- Pros: Beautiful venue
- Cons: Terrible service and ridiculous prices for what you get
Hugely disappointing!

I agree with all of the prior reviews of this place. My friends and I came here on a whim because we'd heard some good things about it, but we were extremely disappointed. The venue itself is gorgeous, the decor is beautiful, and the feel of the place is perfect with the English pub theme. But that's about the only good thing I can say about it. Service was terrible; it seemed like they were getting ready to close and were resentful that we even arrived (and it was ONLY 10pm on a Saturday night!). The booths were slightly dirty, even though the place was completely empty. Wine and beer list was decent; I have no complaints here. But I was surprised that the kitchen had already closed by 10pm. Isn't pub grub supposed to be part of the charm? Thankfully, my party wasn't planning on ordering food anyway. Overall, I was extremely disappointed by this place. If everything else had gone right, I'd love it; the atmosphere is wonderful and it's just such a shame that it fell short. I guess I'll be looking elsewhere for my English pub needs!
- Pros: Atmosphere, beer selection, location
- Cons: Questionable service, not very lively, kitchen closes early
It would have been great...
by gregg09
...if the bartender cared to serve us. ...if the hostess hadn't disappeared. ...if the wait staff addressed us with anything other than an annoyed "harrumph". It was appalling. They had only 3 servers and one bartender the night of a Fox event (you would think they would have the schedule and know when to staff up). There were hardly any customers there when we arrived and they were completely overwhelmed. They made us put our name on a "wait list", even though there were plenty of empty tables. And then it was pure chaos - other people who came in after us just started seating themselves. We ended up leaving (this after waiting for nearly 20 minutes to be acknowledged by the only bartender). It's sad... the place looks great! The scarce food that was being served was presented well. I guess they get enough service during the week to stay in business... but they sure lost mine.
