“The service was excellent, though we went on a weekday, so I do not know what it is like on the weekends.”
“The food was awful we had the Irish spring rolls aka overpriced dogfood wrapped in wontons and deep fried with a side of 1000 island.”
The Ship is sinking fast.
We went to the ship and anchor pub the other day, and by the looks of the place we thought wow a real english style pub and boy were we wrong. The front door looks like a gate, thats probably to keep the unhappy customers at bey.
when we got inside we found the place barren and only two servers which one being the bar tender and the other doubling as a hostess if you will. By the looks of the server/bar tender we thought we were in old England maybe on a pirate ship. {tatooes everywhere} The website had a nice menu design, thats about the nicest thing about this place and all the fancy millwork inside. The food was awful we had the Irish spring rolls aka overpriced dogfood wrapped in wontons and deep fried with a side of 1000 island. I had the shepards pie with string green beans and i think it was chunks of tomatoes in them not to sure. the beans weren't cleaned and were cold when arrived at the table. My friend got the black and bleu burger, again it was awful, when they said black they meant it. Aren't hockey pucks black lol and bleu WHERE? Also the diet coke tasted like soap or something wih reg coke flat. Anyone that thinks about trying this place should turn around right now and go eat red lobster or something it would be cheaper. awful place no wonder we left England all those years ago.....
Really good Food for a Bar. My boyfriend and I go here sometimes when we want to stay local. It's really quaint in an old pub kind of way. It's fun to play darts but also the food is really good for a late night bite.
Great Pub with a Greater Atmosphere. The Ship & Anchor is a great little pub located on the corner of Roswell Rd and Hammond Dr in Sandy Springs. The staff there has been nothing short of outstanding for all of my visits. The crowd is a younger middle-age crowd mostly. The atmosphere is terrific and everyone is very engaging. I was there one night where they had a trivia contest with first prize being a bar credit. I really wish I could find something negative to say about this place, but I truthfully cannot. I'll definitely be frequenting the Ship & Anchor more often.
Great pub to stop by after work while waiting on traffic to die down.. The food is always good, I believe they pre-make some of their entrees from one of their other locations and distribute around the 6-7 different locations. Their draft beer seems to be a little limited on variety, but you should find something to like in that area. You can play darts, pool, or just mill around and talk to the regulars. The crowd varies widely, from what I can tell it is local neighborhood folks. Kinda tucked away behind Jason's Deli.
Excellent after work pub. The service was excellent, though we went on a weekday, so I do not know what it is like on the weekends. The drinks were good, reasonably priced, as was the food. The atmosphere was relaxed and comforting. I'll keep coming back.
Authentic. I use to go and play darts here for fun, there was always a wide variety of people...more on the scary side but that's what makes it unique.
Great Pub!. So many places claim to be a true bar and pub and they miss the mark so badly, this place is what a pub REALLY is about. A great stop on my way home from work Thanks guys!
London makes its way to Sandy Springs at this oak-paneled English pub..
In Short
Cozy neighborhood joint in Sandy Springs sports a British flair with a classic red telephone booth out front. Inside, a dark-paneled tavern offers plenty of seating, darts and viewing of a museum ship piece, The Albatross. Pub grub, such as English cheese and sausage and fish-and-chips, get washed down with John Courage beer before a flickering fireplace.
