“Pure is a very cool atmosphere and more unique higher end Mexican food.”
“Meal started out with a bad crab cake, (could smell ammonia before it got to the table) server was unimpressed that the actual crab was bad.”
“The food was great, service average and drinks stunning.”
“The food is fresh, great quality and the flavors are original and fantastic!”
“The margaritas are wonderful, they have a variety of fruity choices and all the high end tequilla choices.”
“The atmosphere was great, with a more uptown feel in a small place bubbling with people.”
“So even though the service wasn't the greatest as our food came out same time as appetizer, the food was good and we would return for the small non-chain restaurant feel.”
“And the bad reviews were pretty accurate, food is not all that great, service is slack at best, prices were a little high for the quality I would expect from all the hype.”
Will Be Back!!. Went here for lunch a little while back. Though the building is quite small, this old gas station is a perfect little Mexican restaurant! The atmosphere was warm and casual, and the food tastes especially fresh and yummy! The only con is the very limited parking, but that is an easy workaround. I will definitely be back!
it was the worst food poisoning i have had in years!. i have never darkened their doors since i had the worst food poisoning of my life from this place. i was ill for about a week after rushing home after about an hour or so eating there- ate chicken tacos. will NEVER forget that moment. needless to say, ruined all the rugs in my bathroom among other things i had to discard. NEVER again. called the restaurant- and of course- deny, deny, deny. also- had to drive around for 20 min just to find a parking spot. NOT worth it. obviously.
I went to Pure a couple of weeks ago and sat at the bar with a few friends because the dining room was full of people eating and seemingly having a great time. Our bartender, Sasha, was very pleasant and made several different types of margaritas, all of which were excellent. I'm not even a big margarita fan. Even though the bar was full, I never had to wave someone down for another drink.
For dinner, I had the salmon special which was the best meal I had had in a long time. My friends both got the fish tacos and loved them. I'm surprised I had enough room for dinner considering that I couldn't get enough of the fresh salsa they bring out when you are seated.
Overall, the service, food and atmosphere were outstanding. I just wish I lived closer so that I could go there more often. I recommend this place to anyone who loves Hispanic/Mexican food and is tired of the run down, low quality places that seem to be on every street corner around Atlanta.
Decent Cal-Mex but nothing to write home about.... Pure is more of a Cal-Mex than authentic Mexican, but still good if you're in the mood for chips, salsa and tacos. I had the fish tacos and they were pretty good. My husband and I went here on a weekday afternoon when it wasn't busy; I don't think I'd be willing to valet and wait for a table during happy hour or dinnertime. I would agree with some of the other reviews that the service isn't great-our waiter was nice but somewhat distracted. All in all, it's not a place I would crave, go out of my way to eat at or wait an extended period of time for a table. I'll keep searching for good authentic Mexican.
Somewhere between Costco's premade mexican and lean cuisine.
Run away from this restaurant if you are not fooled by the trendiness and the cool bar. This food is bland and the restaurant and staff has an arrogance about it.
I've tried several times and have been disappointed. I'm not trying again.
no taste what so ever. i can't believe people give this place more than 1 star. this place tried to be all modern and trendy but the food has always been terrible. it is bland. they try to make mexican different than the greasy delicious food that is is and it's totally flavorless.
Fish Tacos are In the House!. Not on the main Alpharetta drag, but not hard to find is Pure. A local recommended it to us and that was the start of a fantastic relationship with the Mexican eatery. If you go during high times, you will be walking because parking is at a premium, but it is worth it! Have the fish tacos – just enough bite in the sauce. And if enjoying your meal outside work hours, order a margarita. Just one will do ya!
Surprisingly great neo-Mexican in Roswell..
Taking residence (and its name) from a refurbished gas station, this Roswell taco house does the whole “upscale taco and margarita joint” right. For starters, the gringo cheese dip with jalapenos is gooey and creamy with a bit of spice while house-made guacamole is a cool and refreshing counterpunch. First timers should stick to the tacos; the fried fish tacos with poblano slaw or brisket with pickled red onion are safe bets. The more experienced Pure patron might opt for a more complex entree like the gorditas de puerco, a pocket of super-soft pulled pork stuffed between two discs of thick but crispy corn tortillas. The specialty margaritas are pricey, though the tasty tequila-laden concoctions are worth it for an afternoon splurge or a date-night conversation enhancer
Great margaritas, great food!.
My girlfriend works here so I might be a little biased but Pure taqueria has very good food. I love mexican food and this is more upscale but still decent on the wallet.
For appetizers you have to try the Jaiba (crab friiters) they are sensational! You cant go wrong with any of the apps really . Same is true with all their main dishes. They make the best quesadillas! The menu is small and simple.
Their frozen margaritas are very very good. Strong too. I recommend pomegranite pr bannana.
Bottom line is Pure makes great food. I suggest going there for lunch or early dinner and trying it out.
Let me start off by saying that I had been here previously during late afternoon hours and had a good experience. The food was pretty good, and the margaritas were too, as well as the service. I actually recommended it to friends. That visit was about a year and a half ago.
However, my boyfriend and I decided to go last weekend because he had never been there and our original dinner plans fell through. So we arrived around 6-ish on a Saturday night. I didn't know that they used valets at night, must have missed that one, but when we arrived there were a couple of parking spots open (with no road cone markers in them) and there were 3-4 guys outside to the edge of the parking lot by the other little outbuilding on the property, they were talking amongst themselves and did not flag us down or anything so we pulled into a parking space, backed out a little and pulled in to straighten the car, and were about to get out when one of them walks up to the car. His exact words were, "I don't mean to be an a$$hole but when we're here, we own the parking lot and I can't let you park here because it would be a liability for us, but you can just go ahead and give me your keys or you can go down the street and park and walk." This kid was a little arrogant and snotish about it. Not what I was expecting. My boyfriend basically smiled and said "well I guess we don't want to eat here" and we left. Needless to say, we went elsewhere and had a great time but I was really pi$$ed at first because I had been wanting to go back for a while and I don't live in that area so it's hard to get there, but after I came home and we started reading other reviews stating that the food and service has suffered significantly over the last year or so, I actually felt better about not going and spending our hard earned money there. I have worked in the service industry for many years, and I was appalled at how that valet kid acted with that ginormous chip on his shoulder. There are many, many restaurants in the area that have great food and great service and I would rather give them the business, than to give my business to an establishment that doesn't care that it is presenting an image to customers that it's a privilege to be there.
