Make sure it's the right Lux you're talking about......
For the record, Reviewer: bwtwbj is most likely reviewing Lux Salon in Grant Park because, for one, Lux Studio is NOT in a basement. They use a whole, well-appointed bungalow located in the Poncey Highlands. Lux Salon is the one located in the basement of a building in Grant Park.
Secondly, Lux Studio is a well-run, drama-free salon. Most of the stylists there have been with the place since the day it opened and all have years of experience with modern cuts and high-end coloring. Laura cuts my hair and is a trained Kuene technician. However, Lux Studio doesn't drip attitude; they make effort to create a comfortable atmosphere where you can relax and (pardon the pun) let your hair down. No techno, no all black stylist uniforms, no bad attitudes.
Make sure you're going to the correct Lux (again, the one in the Poncey Highlands) and when you call, if you get the voice mail, just leave a message. Sherri the receptionist should call you back shortly.
BAD VIBES.
My girlfriend told me about this place, saying it had cool staff, but when I arrived, the head lady was a snob. The people at Lux cater to only white upper-class people. So, if you are not white, don't go here because you are not welcome at Lux.
That is how I felt, especially by the bad treatment of the staff and hairdresser. The girl who did my hair was high on something because she could not even speak straight. I won't be going back to the place. On top of the bad service, the building is a dump--I could see the dirt in the corners and the thick dust on the windows. Being in construction, I know a few things about structural integrity and Lux is sinking into the ground from what I could see. If a natural disaster came that building would fall over fast. Where you get your hair cut is basically in the basement with a musty smell of dank sweat and mold. Basically, the place has bad vibes all around.
