“ok, i have been waiting for a place like this for a long time, and i was planning on spending some money on a nice evening for my anniversary.”

An inviting wine bar with a European inspired menu from Kevin Rathbun. The patio is the perfect place to spend a spring day, just steps from the Atlanta Beltline
Charming, Intimate Wine Bar Done Right. On the same grounds housing Rathbun's on Krog Street, Krog Bar is a small, stand alone, shed-like baby wine bar with space for about thirty folks at a time. The sexy and intimate space's wine list is filled with several Spanish and Italian selections both by the bottle and the glass. The wine list reads well for the novice as well as the oenophile while the can't miss Mediterranean-inspired small plates are properly paired with the grape selections. Score a date and begin or end the evening at Krog Bar as a near fail-proof conversation and drinks option.
i felt ripped off. ok, i have been waiting for a place like this for a long time, and i was planning on spending some money on a nice evening for my anniversary. my wife and i chose krog bar based on an article in "creative loafing", but we were soo disappointed. the menu was overpriced, but i understand based on the location and atmosphere, it just makes the sting burn more because i dropped about $100 on poor service and quality. the server forgot 3 items that we ordered and gave us two items that we did not order. we spent $40 on a bottle of wine that came to the table with a screw cap and reminded me of something i picked up at a gas station for a frat party. the food was at best mediocre, the so called grilled artichokes were nothing more than some warmed over canned choke hearts. so our evening was kind of ruined and we left with a bad taste in our mouths. i emailed both of the head chefs via the krog bar website with my complaints and neither one of them ever replied. so, i will never go back nor will i ever recommend anyone to visit this establishment. these guys have too nice of a restaurant, too nice of a location, too nice of a menu, and too expensive prices to treat me like they did. avoid them like the plague!
Truly Excellent. Had a wonderful date here a few weeks ago. You can't help but languish over the food and wine , not to mention the conversation. This is a wonderful addition to Inman Park. It definitely feels like some of the bars and restaurants in Europe.
The perfect outdoor happy hour. This little patio is the best thing going in Inman Park. I used to live one block away and loved sitting out on the patio and enjoy a little wine and tapas. The service is relaxed and friendly.
Coziest Place in Town. This is a chic little place tastefully docorated with a breezy patio. This the best place to have relaxed conversation with a friend. It's not loud but yet it has a good atmosphere. Small plates are delicious and the Wine list has a great European selection. If you want to have good conversation over glass wine and still get a city feeling, this is definitely the place to go.
so lucky to have this gem in the neighborhood. they've got a good wine list, the food is always tasty, and the atmosphere relaxing. i can't stop eating the chicken liver pate after it hits the table and there's a great selection of cured meats and cheeses. the wine list is easy to read and i think it's all european. lots of wines by the glass. this is my favorite spot to wind down and chat it up with friends.
Kevin's Personal Wine & Tapas Bar! Cozy Neighborhood Vibe!. Without a doubt, Kevin Rathbun has got to be one of the nicest, most personal chef/owners in the city. And judging by the crowds, everyone agress. A couple of years back, we went to Rathbun's early on, and Kevin came and sat with us at our table, to make sure everyone was fine. And his lovely wife was the hostess at the time. We knew this was the beginning of something great. Last night we had reservations again, but decided to go next door to his Krog Bar, have a glass of wine, and wait on our table. What a great cozy little space, with just a couple of dozen seats. We started talking with some residents of Inman Park. That led to another glass of wine, and to a seat. Before we knew it, we were hooked. We just dug into the tasty Tapas menu, and cancelled our reservations next door. Starting with the velvety Chicken Liver Pate and Crusty Bread. And we just ordered chesse plates, Grilled Artichokes w/lime and mint, White Anchovies w/Lemon, and tried several varities from a great wine list. Could we ask for more, yes! The Pistachio Gelato was better than Paolo's, if that could be possible. Kevin is the man/host, and we are looking forward to his Kevin Rathbun Steak later this month. What a guy!
European ambiance!. Delicious, simple, yet rich tapas. Service is excellent. When I wasn't happy with my wine choice during one visit, the server asked me a few questions about my tastes, and then brought three other wines back for me to taste and select again. Not to sound snotty, but we always bring our visiting NYC friends there to show them Atlanta is not some back-woods hole.
Loved the wine list and the atmosphere!. The only thing they need to do is make another one to accomodate the crowd. I love the wine descriptions on list that allow a novice to pick what they will like. The food is a little expensive for what you get but I think they're improving the portions. It is a great place to stop off before a night on the town for a glass and a bite. I'll be back again and again and again.
Tasty deserts but terrible coffee to wash them down. Krogbar was o.k. I arrived around 11:30 for desert & coffee. The desert (almond biscotti & pistachio ice cream) was awesome, but the service was slow and coffee was terrible. The coffee, served from a stainless caraffe, was cold. Then, after requesting another cup, the freshly brewed coffee tasted awful. Youd think such a nice restaurant could get coffee right. Oh yeah, the waiter also never offered or brought water. A big no-no in my book.
