Editorial Review for Eclipse di Sol – by Jennifer Soong
In Short
From the owners of ever-popular Eclipse di Luna comes a charming European cafe and bistro. A bright, cheery interior is inviting with sun-themed decor gracing the walls. A lively covered patio attracts people-watching patrons, who often line up to score a table with the best view. The eclectic menu--serving breakfast all day--is a mix of light starters, such as cool cucumber soup, and heftier plates like pork shoulder served with a side of collard greens.

I went to dinner w/ a friend @ EDS last night & had a very nice, quiet dinner. I had read complaints about the service before going, but didn't experience any problems. Our waitress (I think her name was Danielle) was very nice & didn't come around too much to bother us or too little to not tend to our needs. Our dinner started w/ the cheese plate, then hummus, which was good & garlicky. I had the salmon entree & my friend had the crab cakes. I had no complaints about my entree but my friend said her crab was a little salty. EDS was surprisingly slow on this Saturday night & hopefully they will pick up & stay in business, but there is tough competition in that area. It wasn't the most memorable dinner I've ever had, but it was pleasant & I would go again if I was in the area. Lots of couples there, darkly lit & romantic so it would be a great place for a date, especially if you want to be able to hear your date talk!
Pros: Reasonable Prices, Romantic & Quiet, Good Menu
Cons: None

Not usually one to post a review, but we had to after seeing the awful one below...it is the opposite experience that we have when we go to Eclipse di Sol. All of the bartenders are friendly, from the newest patron to the most regular customer. One of the best neighborhood restaurants you can find. Really wonderful creative menu, but with some great basics too. The best hamburger (and veggie burger) around. My husband swears by the hangar steak. And look out for the mushroom pie if they do it as a special. In fact the specials are almost always delicious too. And all of this for prices that won't break the bank. DJ plays some good music as well 3 or 4 nights a week.
Pros: Excellent food, great drinks inexpensive, awesome bartenders, free parking
Cons: can't think of one
