Great Experience – Smoke Jack convinced me that bbq really can be great food. I have never been a fan of bbq until i moved to Alpharetta Ga. They have meals from all over and give a great variety of food. There pulled pork with the carolina mustard sauce was awsome. There side dishes remind me of my grandmothers cooking where you can tell they put time and effort into them instead of from a can or a box. The Service was the best ever for bbq. Managers were out and about and not hiding from customers. Servers were knowledable about all the products they serve at smoke jack. This is with a doubt a bbq restaurant that I will continue to dine at with all family a friends.
Smoked Meat Majesty – Visiting family in Alpharetta is normally a boring task. The restauraunts in the area tend to be a bit uninspired. Last time however we went to SmokeJack's in downtown Alpharetta. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and I was glad to see they had an extensive selecion of vegetarian sides, and salads. Their wine list was simple but it managed to avoid the pitfalls of Kendall Jackson and the like. The service was great, they told us about how the food is prepared and walked me through the many sauce options of a barbeque rookie like myself. The atmosphere was great, it was a blend of rustic tavern with a distinctive art collection of abstract Jazz musicians. Great value was had with all of us taking home leftovers from our big plates. The pulled pork was so good it just fell apart in my mouth, combined with the house Carolina Mustard sauce of which I am now a convert. Don't miss out on a chance to see this classic cusine redone in Alpharetta.
Save your money for something better. – Very overpriced for the value, with a rude hostess. When we were finally seated, we complained about the overcooked, meager meat portions to the owner, who was completed unconcerned. I've had better barbeque at a drive-through fast food place, at half the price. Very, very disappointed. Save your money and go where the staff is friendlier and the food is better. Swallow in the Hollow is worth the drive to Roswell.
Don't waist your money. – Absolutely the worst barbeque we have tasted. The prices are outrages for the low quality meat and side items. I think the side items come from a can and the masked potatoes are definitlly instance. The reviewer that posted before is coorect on saying the owner is very rude. I told the owner that the ribs that I ordered were very tough. He said thats the way they are and walked away. The waitress brought me another batch and they were the same. I also cant believe there is not a ribs and chicken item on the menu. With all the great barbeque places around this yuppy place needs to go.
Great Food...even for Vegetarians! – As a vegetarian, who generally avoids barbecue places due to the lack of options on the menu, I was incredibly impressed to find a wide assortment of side dishes to try. The corn pudding and mac & cheese I tried were outstanding. The fried pickle appetizers were incredible as well. There is even a lot I couldn't try, but I will be sure to do it next time I go!
Editorial Review – Diverse menu with more than 50 items offers far more than its barbecue roots would imply.
Entertainment, Service and Food All Top Notch! – Friday and Saturdays upstairs the entertainment, both on stage and behind the bar, is top notch including some of the best Chicago blues I've heard. The food in the dinning room was outstanding. The Mashed Sweet Potatoes were absolutely amazing and the Beef Brisket Pasilla was a delightful dining experience. The service I received on my visits was great and I recommend Smokejack to all my friends and family. The staff was courteous, fast, efficient and very pleasurable.
Great Choices! – Went to Smokejack for the first time the other night with my wife. We we very happy when we left. I had a combo plate with pork ribs, lamb ribs and beef brisket, and it rocked! The meats were smokey and perfectly seasoned, the sauce was sweet, sticky and awesome. The sides were all fresh and delicious. My wife doesn't like barbecue so she had the grilled Rainbow Trout. It was tremendous, fresh and cooked just right. The service staff was fast, enthusiastic and good looking. We're happy Smokejacks here!
Disappointment – Had very disappointing brunch at Smokejack on Sunday. Had reservations, came about 15 minutes early, and watched them sit at least 50 people before us, including other groups of the same size who didn't have reservations. Instead we had to wait for one particular table to finish, and the patrons lingered on. A half hour later, after requesting to speak with the owner, the owner was rude to us, and offered a stiff and angry apology.
Earlier that week, the staff on the phone promised a meal that would include lamb, several types of smoked meats, fish, etc. Instead, the brunch meat only included bacon, sausage, ribs, and salmon. Then the usual eggs and danishes. Seemed overpriced at $20/person.
