okay... nothan special.. I was excited to go there although I had heard from people that it wasnt anything special. The food was okay..they had different types of bbq sauces from different states which i am not a fan of. I think bbq places should stay with what the area is known for. The customer service was terrible and our waiter was also terrible. TAKE YOUR MONEY TO A BETTER BBQ RESTUARANT.
New school cue joint gets the basics right OTP..
In Short
Located on Main Street in quaint Downtown Alpharetta, Smoke Jack is a smokehouse that puts a little gourmet into their soul-based ‘cue recipes. While its contemporaries may include shacks with infinite old-school charm, this super-warm, two-story house has a good reason to compete for the same folks. Killer peppery brisket and mega-tender chicken are slow cooked perfectly, and include burnt ends--the delicious crispy edges--dipped into Kansas City-style sauce. Share some fried pickles, grab a craft beer (such as Athens-based delight, Terrapin Rye) and head upstairs for some live blues. Because who doesn’t love blues, brews and great barbecue? They might be OTP and a little different, but they've got the basics figured out.
Great Food from a New Yorker. A friend told me about this website, and I never thought that I would need to use it until iI arrived at Smoke Jack. I am from New York and was visiting my family in Roswell. They said they knew a BBQ joint in Alpharetta so we cruised on over there. Our servers name was Sheila or Shelby I can't remember. She was probably one of the sweetest servers I've ever had. She told us it was her first day and I thought "oh great". No that wasn't the case at all. Our drinks were never empty and I had everything that I needed right when I asked. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. We sat down and she welcomed us with a great smile. She got our drinks and mentioned the great margaritas and they were awesome. Then she told us that the fried pickles were amazing so we had to try some. They were unbelievably delicious. She then taught us about that the Hanger Steak was and alot of the other items. She was very boastful about the chef and how everything was prepared in the morning. This place really rocks. My only concern is the fact that I don't live there so I can't go very often. Whenever I am in Alpharetta we go to places where service stinks as well as the food. She was great and extremely kind. I give this place and the staff an A +
Ammmmmmazing. Must I say that Smoke Jack rocks the restaurant world of Alpharetta. Great service and awesome food. I was sitting alone so I decided to take the bar. The bartender Cameron couldn't have been nicer and he really helped me understand the menu. He made me feel like I was a regular and my glass was never empty! He told me a great choice would be fried pickles so I took his word and boy was he right. They are the absolute best!! Smoke Jack rocks!!
Great Food! Great service what more can I say.... When you pull up in front of Smokejack you get that small town feeling. Once you are inside the staff treats you like a long time regular. I haven't had service this good at 5 star restaruants that I shelled out over $100 to eat. The food is to die for and my portions were big enough that I had enough left over for dinner. My wife plans on making this a weekly visit. Give Smokejack a try, I promise you will not be disappointed!
Best Food in town, not only BBQ. SmokeJack was an outstanding dining experience. There are many traditional and unconventional items to choose from. Looking for a great pork sandwich? How about trying the delectable Hanger Steak? We were pleasantly surprised with every aspect of the cozy restaurant. If you are tired of the chain restaurants, try this hidden treasure that is affordable, family friendly and elegant today!
A true value. Not being the kind of girl to send in a review, I was reminded by my boyfriend that if you are impressed with a restaurant you should tell someone about it, because that is what restaurants depend on. Growing up in Alpharetta I have seen the building that SmokeJack is located in, be three restaurants before. Maybe that is why it took SmokeJack being there for two years for me to finally try it out. When we entered I could not believe how much the 150 year old building had been transformed into a blend of history with the original brick walls and modern art. My first thought was that we were going to have to skip the movies we had planned after dinner because we were on a budget that night. But once we sat down and looked at the menu, I noticed that the prices were affordable! Of course they have these huge combo dishs the size of a small animal for around $25! But for $24.38 Steve had a huge pork sandwich and a beer and I had the cobb salad and diet coke. The server was friendly and was smiling the whole time. A manager stopped by the table to see how everything was. We told him how suprised we were with the variety of dishes and prices on the menu. He explained that "the owner is very focused on family dinning in Alpharetta, and that every family does not have the same budget". It was refreshing to discover a restaurant focused so much on the food being of value then a piece of art.
Best BBQ in Atlanta. I recently visited Smoke Jack BBQ for the first time with my family. I must say that the experience was outstanding. ! Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the variety of dishes on the menu. I had the smoked chicken cobb salad and It was fantastic! I had it with the ranch dressing but there is a variety of dressings to choose from and each dressing is homemade in house that very day. My kids had the pork slider and kids chicken fingers which was perfect for my little ones as they are picky eaters. My husband had the Salmon filet which was out standing! I must also comment on the wide variety of excpetional wines on hand. They carry a wine for every dish. I highly recommend Smoke Jack BBQ for family dinners, a night out with friends, or whatever the case may be. I will most definetly be returning with my family!
Great Experience. Smoke Jack convinced me that bbq really can be great food. I have never been a fan of bbq until i moved to Alpharetta Ga. They have meals from all over and give a great variety of food. There pulled pork with the carolina mustard sauce was awsome. There side dishes remind me of my grandmothers cooking where you can tell they put time and effort into them instead of from a can or a box. The Service was the best ever for bbq. Managers were out and about and not hiding from customers. Servers were knowledable about all the products they serve at smoke jack. This is with a doubt a bbq restaurant that I will continue to dine at with all family a friends.
Smoked Meat Majesty. Visiting family in Alpharetta is normally a boring task. The restauraunts in the area tend to be a bit uninspired. Last time however we went to SmokeJack's in downtown Alpharetta. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and I was glad to see they had an extensive selecion of vegetarian sides, and salads. Their wine list was simple but it managed to avoid the pitfalls of Kendall Jackson and the like. The service was great, they told us about how the food is prepared and walked me through the many sauce options of a barbeque rookie like myself. The atmosphere was great, it was a blend of rustic tavern with a distinctive art collection of abstract Jazz musicians. Great value was had with all of us taking home leftovers from our big plates. The pulled pork was so good it just fell apart in my mouth, combined with the house Carolina Mustard sauce of which I am now a convert. Don't miss out on a chance to see this classic cusine redone in Alpharetta.
