In Short – Sister restaurant to ever-popular Twist, Shout could have easily been dubbed "Flirt." The ultrahip scene attracts sexy singles to its 18,000-square-foot space, which houses a sushi lounge, intimate dining areas and several bars. Midtowners sip fruity cocktails while hipsters jockey for the best viewing tables, where they eye an eclectic menu of tapas, pizza and sushi. For a great view and VIP people-watching, head to the Miami-esque rooftop lounge complete with private cabanas.

It was OK

by ATL PoolGirl at Citysearch

We ate here in September with the intentions of doing the $10 all you can eat tapas they advertise on the website. We got there a few minutes before 9:00 and were told that the special ends at 9:00 but we could get it if we order quickly. So we started looking over the tapas menu to make our decision. We were all set to order a bunch of food, when our server informed us that the special is for a set menu. OK...... Let's look at the set menu then. Well, the "tapas" special consisted of soup, salad, sushi, a slice of cheese pizza, and something else I don't remember. None of this is tapas... Very misleading. Since we were already there and seated, we decided to order off the menu. My boyfriend ordered the short ribs with spinach and polenta. I ordered a wedge salad, beef satay, and shrimp potstickers. We also ordered a bottle of the house malbec.

The wine came out fast and it was decent. The salad came out quickly. It was smaller than I was expecting, but it was good. Then we waited for the rest of our meal. And waited. And waited. Our server came over and apologized for the delay. A large party upstairs had ordered just before us and the kitchen was busy. Hmmmmm... the rest of the restaurant was pretty much empty. What would have happened if they were busy too? Anyway, she was very apologetic about it and offered us some edamame to snack on while we waited. The manager also stopped by to apologize for the delay. That was nice of them.

When the food finally arrived, it was presented very nicely. It looked very artful and appetizing on the plates. The short ribs were very tender, but lacked some flavor. More seasoning would have been good. The spinach was good and the polenta was bland. Granted, it's hard to dress up polenta. Maybe they should reconsider another side for the short ribs? The shrimp potstickers were cooked nicely, but contained no shrimp that I could discern. The overpowering taste was ginger. Lots and lots of ginger. The beef satay was tender and flavorful, but the bed of cucumber salad it rested on tasted like mayonnaise. Overall, our server did a decent job. But the lack of planning on the part of the kitchen was disappointing and the food was so-so. We won't be back for dinner anytime soon.
