“The hairdresser was decent, the location was convenient, and I just got tired of looking for a good stylist.”
“Nice stylists, awful, AWFUL manager!”
“When I woke up the next morning my eye was almost swollen shut and there was a huge scab where the eyebrow area was supposed to be.”
WOW. The lady at the front desk is not only beautiful , but she helped me with beauty tips. I now get guys left and right. thank you Jon Van Salon!!!!
Worst eyebrow waxing experience ever..
I was greatly in need of having my eyebrows waxed before an important job interview and went into Jon Van Salon with my sister who also needed her eyebrows done. I have had mild reactions from wax before and told the stylist so. She said it was probably because others had used cloth strips as opposed to the paper she used. I took her word for it and lay back in the chair. The first eyebrow went fine and I was happy with what I saw in the mirror. Halfway through my second brow she asked if the wax seemed hot and I told her that it did. She proceeded to finish up and informed me that I may be a little more irritated on the second side. Her recommendation was to look into burn cream - that made me a little nervous. When I woke up the next morning my eye was almost swollen shut and there was a huge scab where the eyebrow area was supposed to be. The first eye she did had reacted in a way I am more familiar with with a few bumps.
Later in the day I took the time to go to the salon and show them what had happened and was told that it happens some times and was again told to try burn cream. (My sister was right after me and had no reaction and I can only guess that they had turned the temp down by then.) Not only were all the stylists there saying "Wow, that is bad" but the owner was there as well and made no offer to refund my money, or for any other reparation. When I finally got sick of standing there being told that "it should be gone before your interview" I walked out furious. The owner followed me to my car saying "Melissa, Melissa... she was just trying to make you feel better." Well, getting my name right would have been a great first step in that process. I am sorry to say that I will never return and can only hope that they gain some business sense to properly handle the situation next time they take the skin off of someone.
Excellent Upscale Salon. The Foil Highlight and Haircut I received at this salon was absolutely beautiful, the stylist had explained that they use a top notch color system and I don’t think my hair has ever looked this vibrant and shiny. I was looking for a neighborhood salon so I could stop driving to Buckhead. I initially stopped by Jon Van and booked a blow-dry, the store was brand new, beautiful, and truly first-class. The receptionist was wonderful and greeted me warmly and helped me with my appointment. I have been to Jon Van three times and I highly recommend this salon!
If you're looking for a tacky salon.... Even though the 3 stylists who work there may know some things about cutting hair, Jan Van Salon does not know how to run a business. Other than everything being completely unorganized, this place is in dire need of a makeover. SOMEONE CALL PETER PERFECT!!! It is the most tacky, unprofessional salon I have ever been to. You know those fake furry cats that look like they are sleeping? They have one there. why? I don't know. Their plants are dead, their break room door is open for everyone to see in, and their color swatch books are on display. I guess they think this is some sort of art. If you are looking for a relaxing place to get your hair done and drink a cup of coffee, don't go here. I will say, Seth is a good stylist for all types of hair, and deserves to be in a high-end salon. This salon is for grannies who don't care/know what's going on.
This place is a joke. STAY AWAY!. I live in the area, so myself and a few friends have all misfortune of attending this salon, and the story is always the same. Nice stylists, awful, AWFUL manager! To be blunt - the stylists here are great (some definitely better than others), but the management is terrible. Manager is rude - as though you're intruding on his time, rather than providing him with business. There's a difference between acting in a professional manner, and treating your customers with disdain, but he has obviously not learned that. As stated here in the reviews, management makes unauthorized credit charges without the knowledge of customers. If you should be so unlucky to find a stylist you can't live without here - pay in cash and tip your stylist directly! I, on the other hand, will gladly take my business elsewhere.
Exceptional Stylists and great customers. Jon Van Salon maintains professional standards that very few salons in the neighborhood are able to offer. An adult-only environment protects your children from the hazards of hot irons and dangerous chemicals. The stylists that work at the salon are very professional and courteous. As expected in any appointment-based business, customers that schedule time are expected to either show up for the appointment, or call in advance to cancel, allowing other customers to schedule that time. Customers that visit Jon Van Salon and behave in an unprofessional manner are not tolerated. They are not permitted to disrupt the salon and ruin the experience for other customers who want a professional well-run business that is consistent and reliable. The team of stylist in place today are professional talented and stable. Hi-drama crisis-prone Stylists with bad attitudes cannot be found at this salon. If you are a reasonable mature adult looking for a quality product, then this salon is for you.
Very Disappointing. I have been going to this salon for 3-4 years. The hairdresser was decent, the location was convenient, and I just got tired of looking for a good stylist. Tonight my babysitter had to cancel because her father is in the hospital. Since it was short notice, I took my two toddler boys with me to the salon to get my haircut. I had them strapped into a stroller, with activities to keep them occupied. The stylist/ owner was very curt when he saw me and then refused to cut my hair. I explained to him that it was a lot of effort to pack up two kids and go anywhere, and that we were leaving for vacation and could not reschedule. He was not understanding and once again refused to cut my hair. I would hope that for a long time customer, the they would be a little bit understanding. So much for "the customer is always right". As seems to be their habit, they've lost another customer.
Going out of business?. Where do I start?! RUDE receptionist! Most dangerous ...they make UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES against your checking account !I had been going there for more than two years and LOVED my stylist, Seth. But, I cancelled an appointment IN WRITING, days ahead, due to the RUDE receptionist. TWO MONTHS LATER, they placed an unauthorized charge for that appointment against my checking account. This means not only did they keep my personal debit card information on file, but they used it! Without telling me! TWO months after the fact! To make a long story short, my bank recovered the money in January, but now I got another babbling call this month (APRIL) about should the stylist be paid or not. They basically have one stylist who is great and carries the shop, but is constantly overbooked. Waiting times for appointments with Seth are months at a time. Not paying stylists, stealing from customers...they see nothing wrong with this?! They lost one of their best clients (and good tipper) for good.
Nightmare. I just have to say that what goes around comes around. I hope the management reads these reviews because this salon was not only a nightmare to work in but is obviously a nightmare for the customers.
