BEST ICE CREAM... PERIOD!. Hanks started in Houston and has since moved to Atlanta. It is by far the best ice cream that I have ever tasted. I did not even eat ice cream before I tasted Hank's. But after one bite I was definately hooked on Hanks. They have many unique home-made flavors, and the service is friendly and the environment is inviting and nostalgic. A great place to visit after visiting Zoo Atlanta, or Grant Park. In fact, many of the employees who work in an ice cream shop in the Zoo are some of Hanks' most regular customers! Hanks is the type of place where the owner knows his customers by name and he makes you feel like you are a part of the Hanks family. A must visit restaurant in my humble but correct opinion.

Quaint, Nostalgic Ice Cream Parlor. Went here after a picnic in Grant Park. Hanks has the most imaginative ice cream flavors...a better variety than the other chains like coldstone, marble slab, or mary moos.

I wish more people knew about it...TELL YOUR FRIENDS! GO TODAY!

We all Scream for Ice Cream. This is the best ice cream in Atlanta. There is a great selection of standard flavors (vanilla, chocolate) and many exotic ones--rose petal is my favorite. On one occassion when I visited and they did not have the flavor I wanted, they wrote it down and told me when I could come back for it--just a day or so later. What other ice cream parlor in the world takes requests? They also have awesome homemade brownies. Great for a la mode. I love Hanks Ice Cream!!

Excellent way to start or end your day!. I love this place! Every flavor on the menu has a little touch of something special to make it stand out above the rest. The butter pecan had whole pecans in it. The oreos and cream, you guessed it, whole oreos in it! It's cheap, it's fun, and best of all...it's delicious!

You Haven't Had Ice Cream Until You've Tried Hank's!. The best homemade ice cream in Atlanta! That's right...homemade! I've seen them chopping up banana's for the banana pudding ice cream...I've seen whole pecan's in the butter pecan ice cream...and the swiss orange chocolate is to die for...and I don't even like chocolate! The owner is really nice, and the atmosphere is family (and pet) friendly. Best of all, I've been able to get the ice cream at some of my favorite restaurants around Atlanta..including Ray's in the City, Wisteria, and Six Feet Under. Treat yourself to something special..try Hank's Homemade Ice Cream!

Banana Pudding ice cream is the best from Hank's. Rfleisher1, Hank's it is the best i have tasted. The ice cream is churned daily and they have odd flavors. I have not tasted a banana pudding ice cream like Hank's! The banana pudding ice cream taste like something my grandmother really made.

Hanks was a let down for me.. I've tried em all. Jakes, Ben & Jerry's, Coldstone, Zestos, you name it, I've been. But I hadn't been to Hank's. In fact I hadn't even heard of it. So I "scooped" up my girlfriend and we headed over. Unfortunately it was closed that time at 9 at night! But being persistent, and pumped up on the reviews I read here, I went back the next day. I love the feeling of a non commerical, mom and pop type of store that Hank's has. However the ice cream left much to be desired.

TO me, there was nothing special about hanks, the most important thing about ice cream, is well, the ICE CREAM. And it was not rich, or creamy, just plain old ice cream you could get in a store. I went in with an open mind and was just let down. I'm probably going to give it one more try next time I'm in the area.

If You're Afraid Of Getting Fat. For the person who may be worried about getting fat, Hank's offers a sorbet every day now. The sorbets are berries, or an intense mango, or the incomparable soursop. They are also trying out low fat flavors. I had a lowfat strawberry made into a malted and it worked really well - lots of flavor without any creamlike heaviness. It works because Hank's strawberry is so full of strawberry. Hank's flavors don't rely on just sugar and fat to taste good!
