Editorial Review for Sugo Restaurant – by Suzanne Wright
The Scene
Anchoring a shopping center strip, Sugo welcomes diners with new, home-like interiors that suggest you are eating in someone's large, Tuscan-inspired dining room. Dark wood tables set generously apart, wood and concrete floors and burgundy walls add to the cozy ambience. The servers are young, energetic and knowledgeable, and confidently explain preparations and recommend wines. Service is nicely paced and attentive throughout the meal, adding to the convivial ease.
The Food
Mediterranean dishes are joyousy over the top, with portions that evoke a mother's urgings. Tapas include delicious baked stuffed calamari which stands up to the breading better than the eggplant. Dorothea's hearty garden pappardelle is loaded with unusual vegetables, including caramelized radishes and parsnips and long-stem artichokes, and the savory lamb saltimbocca includes a sample of walnut pesto and sausage stuffed pork braciole. For dessert, skip the fussy tiramisu and try the refreshing limoncello gelato with cream.

The key to enjoying this restaurant is managing your expectations. The feel is neighborhood family restaurant, not intown fine dining - so your expectations of service, presentation, and offerings should reflect such. Exactly what this restaurant is going for seems a little confusing as the entree prices aren't your typical family restaurant prices. They could easily cut back on the portion size on some of their dishes to make the entree prices more in line with the ambience and service of the restaurant. While the menu is limited (especially when it comes to pasta options), many of the entrees are focused on flavor combinations with a multitude of components (e.g. Federico’s Pork Braciole). Some of the more simple entrees comprised mostly of a protein and caramalized onions are good, but nothing special. The unique experience, overall good food, and Roswell location will encourage a return visit.
Pros: Location, Food
Cons: Prices, Unpolished wait staff, Parking, Wine list

The meal that my husband and I were served last night was Fabulous, Flavorful, and Outstanding. Megan (our wait staff) was well educated on the menu and a delight. We decided to order the specials of the evening. The chicken wrapped in filo dough tapas was unbelievable. The sea bass was served with noodles in a wonderful light and flavorful cream sauce. Wow! The prime steak could not have been prepared more perfectly. Served with stuff red peppers, carmelized onions in portwine reduction. Amazing flavor! We will definately be back and will spread the word. Kudo's to the family for creating such wonderful and unique meals. Loved our experience:)
Pros: Great Food and Service!
Cons: None
