In Short – This expansive 24-hour diner serves up a full menu of favorites from its centralized location across from the Georgia State University Theater. Students, partygoers and downtown workers mingle in spacious booths set amid the cool marble décor and displays of diet-busting desserts. The extensive menu of sandwiches, burgers, dinner specialties and all-hours breakfasts fill bellies. Filet mignon kabobs, veal cutlet Parmesan, Spanikopita and the savory bagel platter are among the popular choices.

Landmark Diner, Atlanta, GA

by feliciawilliams

We were visiting from Charlotte over the Thanksgiving weekend, I love diners and when I saw this one, I insisted on going there. What a mistake, the food was horrible, the waitress was SLOW, the rolls were hard and cold, the salad was wilted, the 3 dishes that we ordered were all substandard and the pasta with seafood was goopy and gross. To top it off, I was going to get some dessert hoping it wasn't made there, as I was walking up to the front, I saw one of the workers (an older gentleman in a suit), rearranging pastries, licking his finger with every move and touching the others, yuck. I walked back to the table and after requesting our bill, it took the waitress another 15 minutes to bring it, she was talking and laughing with another wait staff.

Discriminatory and Illegal practice

by Anikana

I have been to Landmark on Luckie street many times at various hours. On 2 occasions, a waitperson decided to add a 15% tip to our bill. On both occasions I was in a party of 2 people.

I complained to management on both occasions and was met by rudeness with the implication that I must not have been intending to leave a tip if I took issue with the server automatically adding a tip to my bill.

Of course that was not the issue. My sister put herself through law school as a waitress and I know that servers make less than $3 an hour. They need tips to survive. I always leave 20% or more.

The point is, it is wrong to automatically add tips to certain customers bills (based on the waiter's perception about that customer).

It's discriminatory and it's wrong. I won't eat at this restaurant again and I will let tell everyone I know to do the same.

  • Pros: Open 24 hours
  • Cons: Poorly trained, rude staff, old food

very disappointing

by catrescuer

Went here instead of enjoying a hotel breakfast buffet and regretted the decision. The price would have been the same, or less, at any downtown area hotel, with better food. We went 8/10/08 during normal breakfast hours, had an overcooked omelet, chewy turkey bacon, hash browns not done as we requested, and paid as much as we would have for a decent dinner. Don't go.

  • Pros: good service
  • Cons: poor food, lousy value

Across From Rialto, so Convenient; Not Great, But OK Food and Service

by katiekdkd

Visited the Landmark's downtown location across from the Rialto Theater for dinner before a performance. The bottom line is this is a good place if you want simple food fast without having to venture away from the theater. The food is mediocre in quality, not awful, but certainly not great. Prices are high for the quality and quantity of the food served, though. I was disappointed that many of the dishes listed in Landmark's Web site menu were not available at the downtown site. This spot has only the more simple (read cheaper to prepare) dishes. For example, the Eggplant Parmigiana is not available, nor the Shrimp Salad sandwich. The menu here contains maybe 50% of the dishes advertised. I settled upon the Grilled Cheese sandwich. For $8.95, you get two thin pieces of American Cheese on toast, which melted down to almost only a toast sandwich. I asked for coleslaw instead of fries and it was fairly good. Others in our group had the vegetable platter - overcooked with no flavor, hamburgers and soy burgers - pretty good. Fries are ok also. If you have the type of expectations you would have for Waffle House, you won't be disappointed. The prices are way higher than WF, and the food is no better, but not so bad for a restaurant directly across from your ultimate destination, and open 24 hours at that. My impression is they understand who their target audience is, and price accordingly. In other words, they know they can get away with just ok quality food at high prices because of the convenience factor. Overall we were satisfied with our dining experience, but you would go back only when at the Rialto for a late performance. The greeter was very friendly; the waitress was friendly enough, but rarely came back to the table. You have to ask for drink refills, but all in all, not too bad, just not great service. The atmosphere is low diner. For example, there is a hand-lettered sign over the fountain which reads "WE CHARGE FOR ADDITIONAL TEABAGS."

  • Pros: 24-hour; across from Rialto, so downtown convenient; ok, not awful food
  • Cons: Mediocre food quality and quantity; relatively high prices; so-so service; Waffle House-type atmosphere

Best Diner Downtown .

by heavybear

I cannot say enough about the Landmark Diner. You get great food at a great price. The food is always fresh and fast. They make a mean omelette, one of the best I have ever had. I also recommend the cheeseburger and fries. I have eaten at the Landmark on several occasions. I can honestly tell you the food is excellent, the service is superb, and the atmosphere is fun. They stay open 24 hours a day. The Landmark is one of my favorites and a highly recommend it.
