Good spa, but pushy with the products
by sgagirl at Citysearch
I went to this spa recently for a pedicure. The pedicure itself was great--lots of attention was paid to sanitation, wonderful foot/leg massage, great job on polish. Unfortunately, the pedicure was constantly interrupted with long explanations of the products she was using. Each item from the sugar scrub to the lotion was given its own sales pitch. I've had many pedicures before (even at this same spa!) and I have NEVER had this experience. It was distracting and prevented me from fully relaxing.
When the pedicure was over and I was waiting for the polish to dry, I thought for sure that the sales pitches were over. But, no! She came back in the room with a basket full of the products she used and went through another spiel describing all the products to me. I tried my best to be polite, but made it clear that I wasn't interested. She then informed me that she'd leave the basket of products up at the front desk so they'd be there when I check out. I politely informed her again that I don't think I'll be needing any products.
I wouldn't go here again for a pedicure. Although the nail tech did a great job, I just can't handle paying $55 (+tip) for a service only to be bombarded with sales pitches during what should be a relaxing experience. I hope that they read this and reconsider their sales strategy, as I believe I'm not the only customer who would be turned off by it.
Let your products speak for themselves! If I love the pedicure and thought the scrub or lotion or whatever was amazing, I am more than capable of walking over to the shelf and buying it.
- Pros: good pedicure, nice atmosphere, friendly staff
- Cons: too focused on selling products
Great deep tissue massage by Karen
by Andee at Citysearch
I just had my 2nd deep tissue massage by Karen. She really worked out the tightness around my shoulder blades and neck. She also did a great job on my hamstrings. I would definitely recommend Karen, especially to athletes. I haven't had any other services at Mind & Body to comment on. If you join the email list, they sometimes send out specials that make the massages more affordable.
- Pros: Karen - massage therapist
- Cons: small spa
Thought I was alone...
by tejshah at Citysearch
It was a bad experience for me as well. Based on the reviews below - i thought I was the only one who felt this way, i'm glad to know that there are others out there. I had had a stressful day and planned on destressing at this "renowned" spa - however, my day of stress turned into a night of stress as this business was very unprofessional in handling of their clients. The massage was so lackluster and the way that everything was handled thereafter was so unprofessional. I voiced my concerns (very nicely - i might add) to the receptionist who told me to email the manager - It has been a few weeks and I have yet to hear back from him. If I were running a business, I would want to cater to my customers and unsure their happiness - isn't that business rule #101? You can have a plethora of "rave" reviews but the exceptions are what you should really look at. Thanks - still waiting for a response.
- Pros: location, atmosphere
- Cons: unprofessionalism
