Well when I first joined about 6 months ago I thought the gym was pretty good but after time I started to see a decline in customer service. The staff just isnt as friendly as I felt they where when I was siging up and the equipment seems to be taking longer and longer to be fixed. Every Time I come in something new seems to be broken and it takes long enough just to put a sign on it. I know the economy is getting touch but some things just need to be a priority... (repairs)
Besides the fact things are always broken I have been very uncomfortable with the actual owner!!!
My sister and a few of her friends are members at the gym and the last few months they have been telling me about some very uncomfortable situations with the owner, he seems to have remarks as they come in and leave the gym. He makes remarks about Brest size and the size of their back side if you know what I mean. It makes them very uncomfortable but they are too embarrased to say anything or to let me say anything. It will be too awkward for them to ever return if something is said.
So FYI for the ladies and the wives. You may have some very awkward encounters with the owner of the gym who is always around and up front. just avoid the situation if possible...
And his wife works there as well... what a sleez bag.
A Good Gym; Great Trainers.
Overall, this is the best gym for the $$ if you don't want a pool, snack bars, etc. I don't want that, so it's a good fit for me.
If you're not a gymrat you may have to ask about how to (correctly) use a lot of the equipment, but there are always staff who are willing to help.
I guess the only negative is that it tends to be the 35+ crowd, so if you are 20-something looking for a younger/more social gym, you may want to look at Lifetime (off Sugarloaf) or one of the LA Fitness Clubs.
Despite its Hollywood connections, this franchise's focus is on pumping iron, not newfangled razzle-dazzle..
The Terminator and the Incredible Hulk (aka Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno) lifted weights at the gym's Venice, California, flagship years ago, but even today, customers frequenting charter locations are bound to encounter serious muscle. Take note: The boys with bulging biceps are the mascots, not the majority. Gold's generally offers Spinning, aerobics and kickboxing classes, yet weight-training remains the core of the program. Dumbbells and barbells, not spa-like amenities, are the attractions that draw the beef-heads in droves.
Great gym for Real People - ie - you dont have to bench press your weight to fit in and enjoy!. I have been a member of Gold's Suwanee for 6 months and chose this club over others in the area for it's location, friendliness of staff and cleanliness (really clean and no 'locker room smell' here!). This is the first gym I have ever joined as I thought they were only for the jocks and musclemen - definately not the case here!! Although I have used the weights, I usually stay in the cardio / circuit area. There is a womens only area for the shy, but the gym is very non threatening - even for a newbie like me. Lots of choices in classes and plenty of room!
