“The atmosphere is fun and hip and you can find live blues and jazz several nights of the week.”
“The desserts are great; but I wish they would go a little lighter on cardamom.”
“The drinks are great too!”
“Overall the food is decent with a few awful items, but way over priced for the amount that you get.”
“Pretty good service considering the place was full.”
“The owners and staff are friendly and accomodating.”
“This used to be one of the nice places to hang out until the owner of the restaurant got too hungry for money and decided to come up with this highly absurd rule.”
Definitely try the Pani Puri and the Naan; they also have great cocktails and have opened a location in Buckhead!
I would not recommend it, and would never go back. I ordered a chicken dish and the meat was entirely gristle and full of tiny BONES! It was the worst meat imaginable, more like the left over parts of carving a chicken that most people throw away, certainly not breast meat, or even thigh. A full 2/3 of the meat was completely inedible. For the price point I would say they could afford to put actual edible meat in their dish.
Perfect Night for Special Occasion!. My family is still talking about the fabulous time we had at Bhojanic last week! Came across their web-site while looking for an Indian restaurant to host our daughter's Sweet 16 dinner! They were the perfect choice for our group of 10 (ages 13 - 80), most of whom had never tasted Indian food before. The staff was overly accomodating with our concerns about the spicyness of the food and offered us samples of serveral dishes to help us make our entre selections. I highly recommend the Mango Lassi, Pani Puri, Turkey Kebabs, Lamb Curry, Tilapia and the fabulous Saffron Mango Pistachio Cheesecake!!!! Friendly staff, reasonable prices, beautiful decor (recently updated, I understand), fabulous food, & great atmosphere! What more could you ask for!
How 'bout a mimosa with your samosa?.
A totally different take on Indian cuisine. The tapas and chaats are aboslutely fantastic and the parathas (layered flat bread) are the best you will find anywhere in town. The owners and staff are friendly and accomodating. The kitchen staff comprises quiet but sweet and amiable "aunties" who let their motherly instincts flow in abundance whenever you want to be indulged with some homestyle cooking. They are willing to change things up here and there to accomodate any particular cravings. Those who dislike this place should stick to the likes of Applebees; there is no hope that their minds will ever be broadened or their palates ever get accustomed to a different taste.
Oh, and did I forget to mention the turkey seekh kebabs? That is really what sets this place apart from all other Indian restaurants anywhere in the nation. Also keep an eye out for their daily specials, which keep changing so no two meals at this restaurants are alike. A lot of these items are the brainchildren of superlatively innovative chefs Surender and Archna; so you will probably not find them anywhere else. The waitstaff and barstaff are friendly and cheerful and seem very happy to work there. Most of them have been working there for several years.
Cocktail lovers will relish the lychee martini and the mango mimosa. There's always something there for everybody. Go there with an open mind, not expecting to have a traditional Indian meal; but something different from anything you will find elsewhere. True fusion of a tapas bar environment with homestyle Indian cooking. Great place to hang out with old friends and make new ones, have tasty food and a great time.
The desserts are great; but I wish they would go a little lighter on cardamom. My personal favorites among the desserts are the ras malai and the gulab jamun.
While I do love the food at this restaurant, what really keeps bringing me back is the warmth and friendliness of the owners Purnima and Surender Malhotra (more popularly known as "Auntie" and "Uncle"). It really is like going home to your family for a meal.
not good. In my opinion, this restaurant is an absolute disgrace. When we went there, the staff was rude and unobliging, and the food tastes like its been stored in their basement for 3 weeks. Not to mention that the food they served us was burnt . And we had the honor of smelling the smoke that was billowing out of the kitchen as they were cooking our food. I have never never been so disgustedwith a restaurant in my life. My experience was one of my worst and I will not be returning.
Great Spot. I've been coming to Bhojanic regularly for a while now. The food is just right when you get that craving for food that is spiced a little different from the mundane meals you get everyday in the U.S. It's crazy that some people think the waitstaff is rude here. My significant other and I have sat for hours chatting with servers and the owners, who are truly great folks. The atmosphere is different from most Indian places and they even have great music on select nights. The drinks are great too! Check it out.
One of my favorite places to eat..
Excellent Tapas! The Samosas, Bhojanic Shrimp, Bhojanic Pakora & the Chole Puri are absolutely divine.
I usually get the Thai Platter & it never disappoints! Their Chicken Tikka Masala is consistently delicious & so is every side that I have had. The Bhindi Masala (okra) is my favorite. It will melt in your mouth!
Bhojanic has a friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. I highly recommend it!
Great Indian Restaurant in Decatur near Atlanta!. Bhojanic is my new favorite Indian Restaurant in Decatur! It is located on Clairmont Rd near the corner of North Decatur Rd close to Emory. It is not far from Atlanta if you are coming from Virginia Highlands, Midtown or Buckhead, but is worth the drive for anyone coming from further away. Their food is amazing and the service is great too. Thalis is a traditional Indian entree platter that allows you to try an assortment of delicous flavors, which I highly recommend!
Just not worth it..
To call this “Indian” is insulting to say the least. Creative Loafing picked this as the best Indian?!! That person’s taste buds must have died years ago. I lost all respect for CL’s ‘picks’. There is no way this restaurant is ‘tasty’. The food was bland. The best thing I can say about the food is ‘edible’.
About the rude behavior… it may be just for Indian people. There was no ‘hello’ or smile, no nod… not even an acknowledgement. I think if the law had allowed, I may have been refused service. I have heard from many other Indians who were treated badly. So it may just be that someone has issues with Indian people (irony!). If you are a non-Indian who thinks you might be ‘cool’ in liking ethnic foods, by all means go to this place and feel the fake coolness. But please do not mention this as your fav Indian place to someone who actually knows what Indian food is. This restaurant is not for people who want good food and/or service. I still don’t know why they are in business. My guess is that you won’t find many Indians at this place. If you are Indian, you might want to go to this place to actually experience the rudeness. It will make you appreciate the other restaurants that you thought had bad service.
MSG !!!. If you are allergic to MSG do not eat here. The food is good but wht in the HELL do they use this cramp!!
Homestyle Indian food is never made with msg. I do not even think the chef or the kitchen staff at this restaurant has ever seen it before. They flavor their food with fresh roasted spices and herbs.
Rude staff, Bad Service - Very Consistent in Rude Behavior. I have gone there total 3 times and have bad experience pretty much all the 3 times. I am not sure why they act like it, but they are pretty much insulting. I have been there with my clients and had a horrible experience in front of them. Do not recommend.
