The Scene – Adjoining MF Sushibar in the increasingly vibrant Highlands on Ponce corridor, this narrow dining room looks a lot like a hip children's playroom looking out onto the avenue. Bold primary colors lend an air of whimsy to the space's jutting geometrics, and funky, angular place settings glisten. Service is polished and more than willing to discuss the finer points of the menu with the diverse Midtown crowd. – – The Food – In a city full of Thai restaurants, Thai Palate's offerings stand out thanks to a pronounced Malaysian influence in the kitchen. Excellent Chicken Entrees!

by ConnieSiewert at Citysearch

I love Thai food and have dined at many of the familiar places around Metro Atlanta. Thai Palate is by far my absolute favorite. Their Mango Chicken with fresh basil and Coconut Chicken dishes are ones that ignite cravings for their unique blend of flavors. Their Roti pancake with curry sauce appetizer is also a real treat as is their flaming banana dessert. Those in my dining parties have always agreed that the food is exceptional and we all look forward to sharing a meal there again. Great place for dinner before the theater.

  • Pros: Fabulous Mango and Coconut Chicken

Insects

by Katie184 at Citysearch

My fiance and I went to this restaurant looking for a great atmosphere and Thai food. We were greatly disappointed. It started with our drinks taking at least 10 minutes to get to our table, then, 15 more minutes for our appetizer, then, 20 more minutes for my entree to come out by itself. We had to wait longer for my fiancees entree, making my food get cold.

While we were waiting for his entree, we saw a large insect (that for some reason citysearch won't let me write the type of insect... but its the gross one that scurrys around) run across the stone wall we were sitting next to. We were grossed out but wanted to give them a chance to redeem themselves since the manager had apologized that there was only one cook that night. We told our waiter about the insect and he came up with a bunch of excuses like "oh, well it's the season for them" and walked away. Well, that was the last straw. We offered to pay for our appetizer and left. I hope no one ever has to have an experience like this :(

Not so tasty

by RT44 at Citysearch

-- This was my first visit. Food was not up to par for good Thai. Red curry chicken was bland and not spicy (as ordered). The Prik Khin chicken ordered by my guest was slightly better. Coconut chicken soup had a slight sour smell and tasted less than fresh. Portion size was more than adequate. Fortunately, I did not pay full price (since I had a $25 gift certificate purchased for $2 - which required a minimum food purchase of $35). I'd rather pay full price at Surin in Va. Highlands or Bangkok Thyme on Roswell.

  • Pros: Portion size
  • Cons: Taste
