Only if I'm STARVING!. My husband and I have been to Dakota Blue many many times. I hate the feeling that I get everytime I leave that place. ( Money Wasted ) I think they try too hard to create these crazy new things, but give it up people, sometimes, it just isn't good. I hate knowing that I have to avoid anything that is fried or even requires butter because grease will be OVERWHELMING!! The time it takes to have your order get to the table is ridiculous! Just make sure you're in good company. If the food takes under 30 minutes then something is undercooked. Whether its the beans or the hamburgers that are ordered Medium. Now I'm not a picky eater, and a hip mexican shin-dig which this place wants to be appeared as is really below my standards. I just expected more. The location no doubt is awesome. Which helps. The staff, while really nice, is crazy enough slow too. I have had the opportunity to meet the owner and I was very pleased with his attitude. He is a very nice man. I just hope the food starts to match his and his staffs personality. OVER-THE-TOP.
Relaxing with friends. Dakota Blue is a real neat place. The relaxed atmosphere and good eats and drinks bodes well for this revitalized part of Atlanta. The owners are extremely nice people and interact with the customers. Try the great margaritas at a great price. This place was a real find!
Low-key burrito joint adds a dash of spice in Grant Park..
In Short
The cantina's cobalt-blue interior features dark-stained wood booths and several tables where a young, chummy crowd tosses back cold Pabst Blue Ribbons and noshes on Mexican fare under the watchful eye of the friendly owner-operator. For a starter, smoky chipotle-jalapeno salsa is served with warm, salted tricolor chips. Vegetarian chili--hearty lentils, pintos and black beans--makes a nice comfort food. The main attraction burritos are made with steak, adobo chicken, tofu or barbecue pork.
Great Brunch!. My wife and I love brunch, but I am an impatient fella. I just won't wait for mor than 10 minutes. A friend told us about Dakota Blue's brunch. We got there around 10:30 AM and were promptly seated. I really like a good cupof coffee. I couldn't tell what brand they served, but it was clearly a little better quality than I have gotten at some places. I ordered something called Eggs Salvador Dali. It came with jalapeno cheese grits. My wife had chocolate chip pancakes. My dish was incredible, especially the grits. My wife also enjoyed her pancakes. I would definitely recommend the brunch to anyone.
Fabulous Veggie Buritos! Service is friendly although generally rather slow..
I've upgraded my rating significantly due to improvements noticed in 2006.
PROS:
-Food is always VERY good & made FRESH!
-Creative specials everyday. I've tried a few and was always pleased.
-Servers are typically very friendly and fun to chat with.
-Drink pricing is excellent. Good Margaritas and great prices on draft beer.
-STELLA currently on TAP!! Yea, my favorite.
-Great location with some outside seating (love it in nice weather).
-No waiting to get in.
CONS:
-SLOW service (maybe we all need to slow down,....here is the place to do it)
-Air Conditioning is weak (it is usually rather warm inside on hot days)
-Noisy
OVERALL: Good choice if you are not in a hurry. If they could only improve the speed of the service a bit this place would be awesome!
Grant Park needed this!. This is a great addition to an area starving for a good burrito joint. Not only is the food fresh, but they serve up some monster margarita's for cheap. They also have checkerboards painted on the tables and many board games available. Definitely check this place out!
