Editorial Review. Pan-Asian fast food chain serves decent and inexpensive appetizers, salads and noodle bowls to the on-the-go professional set.
Gross. I agree about the Coconut Chicken soup, I could only eat about 5 spoonfuls before I decided that a sandwich at my apartment would be better. I understand that it is fast food/casual but I've had much better for cheaper.
Best spicy chicken dish. For a high quality take-out meal it beats most of the other choices. It's more Thai than Chinese but they have become so much better in the last three years. I paid only seven bucks for a chicken "General Fu". My friends had the Pad Thai and the Red Thai Curry which were also really good. The one on N. Druid Hills is the best.
Decent, reasonably priced take out food. As far as take out food is concerned, Mama Fu's is definitely above average. I ordered the lo mein with tofu and vegetable egg rolls. My friend ordered the mongolian dish with chicken and it wasn't as happy. I think your opinion will depend on what combination of food you order. There are a list of dishes and you choose between beef, shrimp, chicken or tofu in your dish. The tofu is superb, but the chicken wasn't in my friend's opinion. The bad part about is that the people working there aren't much help when you ask what you should order. A little direction would have been nice.
This is not a Chinese Restaurant!. There are a few Chinese "inspired" items on the menu at Mama Fu's, but this is not a Chinese Restaurant! This is a fast food pan asian style restaurant, maybe a baby step above what you would find at a mall food court. To put this in the category of "Best Chinese Restaurant" is like nominating Taco Bell for Best Mexican Restaurant. The food at Mama Fu's is decent and a nice diversion from other fast food chains, but don't go here expecting fine Chinese cuisine because thats not what this place is about.
Beats Burgers. I think some people are missing the point about Mama Fu's. This is a fast food restaurant that offers an alternative to all the burger and chicken joints. I agree you will find more authenitic asian noodle bowls on Buford Hwy, but who has the time the drive that far when they are on a lunch break? The food is good, it's healthy, value priced, and convenient. It sure beats grabbing a hot dog at the Quik TRip.
Moe's Knows Noodles?. The latest concept from the creator of Planet Smoothie and Moe's is a good one, but not without its' faults. The food is slightly above average, the ambience is O.K. (the music should be lowered a bit), but it is a fairly good value (my bill was $11, and I definitely got my money's worth). With more established noodle houses in Atlanta, Mama Fu's will have to stand out from the others. As it is now, it may go either way.
Mama Fu. I was not at all impressed with this latest example of cashing in on the latest trend. This is dumbed-down, bland Asian for the masses. Living in a city that showcases quirky, cheap and TASTY ethnic cuisine, I cannot imagine why anyone would stoop to this. Go to Buford Highway to get your money's worth! The 2 dishes I sampled were not good, pad thai noodles were overcooked, mushy and flavorless, and the spicy chicken dish is something I have had done better in mall food courts. Do as you should with this restaurant's sisters, Moe's and Planet Smoothie: stay away and try the real thing somewhere else.
I WANNA GO BACK!. I had a great time eating at this restaurant! The food was fantastic. A great mix of modern asian food and contemporary decor. The menus were great because they were simple and good. I had the Red Thai Curry - I recommend it.
