Horrible. We arrived for a matinee, first show of the day, and the theater employees didn't even show up for work until five minutes after the movie was supposed to start. Inside the lobby, movie posters had fallen off the walls and were just lying on the floor. I paid $4.25 for a small soda. The theater itself was very damp and reeked of mold. They ran TWENTY-FIVE MINUTES of previews and commercials before the move started, and many of the previews were not at all age-appropriate for the audience. To top it all off, there was a pile of fecal matter in the bathroom, not in the toilet. I'm not going back there.
Catch a Flick and Grab a Beer. Falling somewhere in between the small theatre atmosphere and technology of the 24 theatre behemoths, Midtown Art Cinema is a wonderful place for midtowners to catch a flick. First run shows are reliably present, while occasional art films or hard-to-find limited releases can also be found. The concession stand knows how to please its clientele, offering not-too-expensive beers and wine by the bottle - something that the big theaters just can't sell. While the screens aren't massive and the chairs aren't reclining, massaging, or turning into loveseats, Midtown Art still has plenty of comfort and charm, generally devoid of unpleasant movie-goers anyway.
AWESOME Local theater. I hate looking for parking but this place is worth it. Best date in Atlanta is to hit Apre Diem and then hit a movie at Midtown Art Cinema or the reverse!
Editorial Review by Elisabeth Bergman. Renovated multiplex attracts a more grown-up crowd with its screenings of independent and foreign films, stellar concession stand, and convenient intown location.
Still better than Atlantic Station.
It is better than Atlantic Station because you dont have to pay to park, and you dont have to walk through a scene of tourist....
Plus Apres Diam is next door for food and wine. And it makes it a good night.
